The weather looks fab for a sib run round to the south side of the Needles. Unfortunately I’ve now booked some work in for tomorrow so will not be able to make it. Let’s see some pictures, and I want to know how this Volaire handles. We will have to meet up soon @Brerabit on another sib run.
Have fun guys.

Re: Excel Volante SD360 vs Honwave T38ie - The ultimate sib test
Just done my Powerboat Level 2 with Sarah at Dorset Marine Training. Can’t recommend the course and DMT highly enough. Learnt so much and had an extremely enjoyable if knackering two days. Got back to the hotel in Bournemouth tonight deliriously tired but very happy.
Which brings me to tomorrow, if the tests were going ahead as planned, my role would largely be as ballast where required and I was looking forward to a relatively easy day picking up as many hints and tips as I could absorb - but I don’t feel up to a long day at the helm in open water.
So if we are postponing the tests, which is the way I’m currently reading it, I’ll give the outing a miss this time.
Going out to get a bite shortly but will check back later in case an engine has turned up but otherwise I look forward to the next time.

That’s a shame, @Brerabit. I was looking forward to seeing your boat.
Anyone else around? @Shaun, you mentioned in another thread that you might be around. Want to come and play?

Yeah, that is a shame @Brerabit. Looking forward to seeing your Volaire, and yourself of course.
We also have the same motor (Mariner version) as yourself on a T38, so would have been an ideal comparison.
Bleedin shame plug pulled at the eleventh hour on this test lark.

I've created a new thread for the outing, that way we can keep this one for when we manage to organise a suitable engine.

Re: Excel Volante SD360 vs Honwave T38ie - The ultimate sib test
Not quite sure how to read one or two of these posts…
I’ve been up for this gig from the get-go, I’ve dragged my boat and motor down here, forked out for a hotel, taken a day off work but am content to accept that for reasons outside my control and apparently the combined talents and resources of this forum, we are unable to locate all of the components required to carry out a meaningful comparative trial.
Time for all to regroup and evaluate.
It’s been cancelled and some of the planned participants are now making the most of the situation and planning an excursion. I’ve had a challenging time recently, followed by a very enjoyable but nonetheless tiring couple of days doing my PB lev 2 course (which now pushes my number days experience on the water to three) and don’t feel up to the drain on my already significantly depleted resources that a day out with the pros in open would water would demand.
I don’t feel too bad about that…
