Super quiet on here so thought perhaps worth posting about the latest addition to our fleet.
Noticed earlier this year Kolibri had launched a range of inflatable catamaran sibs. Annoyingly the UK distributors of Kolibri, Wolf Rock, don’t include these Ukrainian cats in their line up, and nor do they intend to add them.
Eager to try one of these, last month managed to source one through an eBay seller….what could possibly go wrong!!!
Smooth transaction on eBay to be fair and boat arrived all as promised by seller in just over a fortnight. Initially a bit concerned main hull came unboxed, but well packaged and protected, and once opened appeared new and never inflated with all usual manufacturers foam protectors/plastic linings etc. etc. Warranty card stamped and dated, presumably by the Ukrainian supplying dealer??, but realistically accept zilch warranty in practical terms on this purchase as, at best, it’s a grey import. For under a grand delivered, happy to take the risk to be honest, but if new to this sib lark then wouldn’t recommend sourcing via this route.
So on paper at least it ticked most of the boxes to potentially perform well…available in the longer 3.8 and 4.2 lengths, large 49cm dia. tubes, decent 175cm beam, rated up to 20hp, all welded main seams/baffles, prv’s, 4 + 1 air chambers, full length keel protection, a good few grab handles etc. etc. I also quite liked the grey/orange livery, (apart from a black floor!) vain or what. Everything expected seemed included for a boat at this price point to be fair. If nitpicking then surprised no valve tool included in repair canister…picky or what.
Turned out to be a good few weeks before we got this little beggar wet, and then sadly only on the river. Mildly optimistic at this stage, it may of course have handled like dog and would hate it, but that’s for later.
In the meantime here are a few pics.

Re: Kolibri 380 SeaCat
Still mega quiet on here so thought time to bore anyone out there with another Kolibri post.
Due to what seemed like months of crap weather, with local river levels constantly in flood it was a good few weeks before the Kolibri finally got wet. Utilised the down time peppering the transom with holes for transom wheels and towing eyes etc. plus fettling the trailer to sit the cat on….can’t be arsed with all that daily inflate malarkey!
So last month a brief weather window saw river levels subsiding to near normal, although still running briskly with murky waters and plenty of flotsam to avoid. Time for its maiden voyage methinks.
Although trailered for ease of use, left trailer in the car park as it’s an easy handball down the slip fully loaded on transom wheels and into the water. Open bow means you can just step on at waters edge, without even getting your feet wet, if you so wish.
Straight out the box ran reasonably well to be honest and mostly as expected one up plus kit with the 15hp two stroke turning an 11” pitch prop. Topped out at 19/20 knots with motor pulling 5300 revs. Absolutely no ventilation whatsoever even in tight turns under power, and able to be trimmed out on pin 2 and even 3. Motor raised on 8mm spacer with lots of splashing approaching 4500rpm and over, so needs to go up further. Next time out will be taking a good few more spacers. A nice touch being the inner transom plate on slotted fixings allowing around 20mm vertical adjustment plus spacers.
Admittedly only run on flat water but seems to handle just like other cats we’ve piloted and, as a budget model, looking okay at the moment. Corners flat with decent grip in the turns, pops quickly onto plane and rides level with no noticeable bow steering. Won’t really know if it’s any good or not until we can play in the sea/surf, but that will not be before spring next year.
My only nagging concern, which bugged me on initial inflation, is the limited height of the raised deck being only 100mm above keels (nearer 150mm the norm) and if this will have a negative effect on choppy water. All good today though on flat river water and still okay playing in the not inconsiderable choppy wash from the bigger river cruisers.
Fairly happy so far.

Hi @sonny1 all good up here thanks.
No plans at the moment for migrating south with the little cat I’m afraid. Sadly think the forum meets we used to attend are long gone.
