Vehicle issues??

Those with 4x4's will know about the good, the bad and the ugly..
I've had a Navara since 2007 and although a great vehicle, they've had some issues with timing chains, clutches etc..
The new major issue is chassis corrosion.
I've already blasted my chassis inside and out and waxoiled the whole bloody thing. This weekend Paul B visited so we could finish attacking his.
All wire brushed waxoiled and looking pretty tidy, hopefully we'll avoid the dreaded tin worm.
Since 2007, mines had a clutch conversion - dual mass flywheel to single.
Timing chain mod to the duplex kit supplied and fitted by the all singing & dancing Billcar Engineering from Shropshire.
I had the solid boost pipes, ecu remap and axle breather fitted at the same time.
AWSOME and very important upgrade for any Navara D40 !!!
What's your experiences of your vehicles ?
Any issues ?

Done my diff seals twice before buying them from billcar and fitting the breather mods.
All good, cracking truck.
I've had nearly all the 4x4 pickup trucks on demo and such like over the last few years due to my job and the navara still cuts the mustard.

Like Martin says, fully wax oiled my Navara, also done the bilcar timing chain mod, apart from some very sh1te servicing from the main stealers, and the common issue with the wimp home mode, which was soon cured with a new turbo , it's been a great truck, it's now done 145k in 5 years and still drives superb

Aye BEN , the old breather on the rear axle blocking up or allowing water in caused issues for many.
The breather pipe mod removes the valve on top of the axle, replaced with a screw in nipple and a pipe running up to a higher level (inner wing it too leg of the chassis)
Have you done the mod or just changed the seals?

The driver window mechanism failed on the Jeep.
I've had to replace some rear suspension parts over time, but thats because I dunk it in the brine!
Occasionally rear brakes stick. Probably due to same lack of care!!!

On the Navara
- I got the DTE chip
- I done the dual timing chain
- Only Sunday I washed the inside of the chassis out
15k miles with no issues
Paul, what stuff did you use inside your chassis and how much did you need?

I've a 2004 D22 Nissan Navara which I've owned for the past 11 years.
At 32,000 miles it developed a 'rattle' whilst under load and after internet research recommended me investigating big end failure
I was somewhat dubious about this diagnosis but went ahead with investigation to find that No3 big end was failing and the other crankshaft bearings were wearing prematurely
I contacted Nissan to ask about their warranty on the engine but they rejected it as one of the service's was not carried out by a Nissan Dealership even though Nissan parts were used
Fortunately I've the tools and know-how to carry out the work and replaced the bearings with up-graded racing bearings and retaining bolts sourced from the USA and Australia
The old girl has now covered 140,000 miles on my modified big ends
So the costs 'outside' servicing have been:
Big end bearing modification = £150
A new starter motor at 130,000 miles = £192
New lower ball joints at 135,000 miles = £30
Replaced the fading dash and climate control bulbs at 100,000 miles - £12
Total = £384
Love the old girl still, does what it says on the tin, covers all my motoring, work, caravan, boating needs and she's a 'keeper' despite the Mrs saying "it's old and it'll become unreliable"
I'm old school and can fix her but this later stuff is beyond me

so I'll stick with the devil I know

I've the equipment to inject your chassis and then cover the outside chassis which you are welcome to use, which works great
Do you have or access to a compressor which produces a consent pressure of 60 psi

I've Wax-oiled mine BTW
