F-rib trailer

Post by eddzoid » 25 Dec 2020, 21:33

Merry Christmas one & all. Today I had an informative Messenger conversation with Martin about a trailer for my 360. What are the pros & cons between an Extreme 400 & Indespension Micro roller?

Both are same price £850.
Seems a fairly easy decision if I were buying.
1. The Indespension has 8 rollers instead of 6 on the Extreme.
2. Indespension has a rear swing arm wheras the Extreme's is fixed.
3. There is a grab handle fitted to the front of the Indespension which is an aid to manoeuvring the boat and trailer.
4. The Extreme has non-marking blue rollers but then my black ones never left any hull marks so a moot point.
5. The Indespension seems to have longer chassis rails and is more in proportion. Better draw bar fixing and longer length. Probably will float the boat on a shallower gradient.
6. There's more height adjustment on the rear roller carriages on the Indespension. Is easier to fine tune.

Correction. I don't believe the Indespension has a rear swing beam despite the name, but it certainly has more rear height adjustment to get a nice low water launch.

Also I can't count. 4 less rollers on the Extreme, 12 instead of 16.

Indespension's 10" wheels are better than the Extreme's 8". Will track over potholes better.

It can take a longer boat should you ever change the F-rib.

Both really good little trailers to be honest.

Salient points all well covered by @Limecc so not much to add. I think Indespension also fit sealed bearings like Extreme, but worth checking.

Arguably the Indespension is better value as 750kg rated, larger 10” wheels (cooler running hubs) and bigger section framing. Only real downside are the black rollers which will more than likely leave marks on the hull.

IMO... :?
Both trailers are fully adjustable, Similar design.. But i think that's where it ends.

If you're going to compare the trailers side by side then you need to compare the slightly similar 500 model, not the 400...
The 400 is a lighter trailer, less ability, smaller wheels, less rollers and still £50 more than the Indespension.

Put the Ext500 against the Indespension to get similar specs and Extreme retail price you'll pay nearly £150 more.
Take a calliper with you and measure the thickness of the steel by extreme compared to the heavier duty Indespension and you’ll see it all starts to add up. :thumbsup

Indespension have depots all over the UK, Indespension have retail parts outlets too... Where's all this for the extreme ?

Just my 2p :Boxsmile

Martin :cheers
