Shopping

Post by Roy54 » 09 Feb 2019, 18:15

Saturday morning spent at Pacer marine, I've picked up four life jackets , and an anchor with chain and warp . I had been advised to go for a Bruce anchor , but couldn't remember the name Bruce and ended up with a Danforth !! Will that be ok or shall I try and change it ?? I imagine I will use it mostly whilst at sandy beaches! Picking up the Zodiac next Saturday , can't remember the last time I was this excited . !!

Oooh! picking up the Zodiac. Yabba Dabba Doo! :thumbsup

Both types of anchor good, just down to personal preference, prevailing bottoms etc...ooer!

Bruce/claw type good all rounder, easy to set 3 claw design, bulky to store, although not too sharpe/rounded edges.

Danforth good in sand/mud, more compact as folding, has sharper edges and sometimes slower to set.

Would imagine either will suit. Enough warp and chain is probably more relevant to successful anchoring than actual type. :thumbsup

With 3m of heavy chain attached, even my grapnel anchor is effective in sand.

Thanks guys , can't wait to get it now . It's in the workshop now , and they are going to reglue the seat upholstery on the underside of the squab as the edges are just starting to lift . Also there is a tiny tear on the back of the seat back (where the catch is) which they are going to repair. I'm really pleased with that because I thought they were a couple of jobs I would have to do over the summer! The only other thing is a small mark on the console where it looks like something has dropped and just glanced off it , and left a blue mark. Probably come off with Acetone.

Ah! The fishing thing. My son has been going on at me for ages about going fishing ,but I know less about fishing than I do about boats. Pre teenager I used to go course fishing with my dad and then I did a bit on two boating holiday s , once on the Thames and once on the Caledonian canal. Both times it was using a spinner. Caught some fish, and in Scotland we caught an old fuel tank! Lol , We really thought " this is a big un"
