GDPR - IMPORTANT, please read !!!

Post by Admin » 24 May 2018, 07:33

Hi guys,

On May 25th there’s a big change happening to privacy laws in the UK.

The new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) gives you more control over your personal information and how it is used. As it’s always been on here, it’s quick and easy for you to check and if necessary update the information we hold about you, this can be done in the user control panel.

As you may have subscribed to certain topics we would have to email you all individually And remove your subscriptions, but as we have many thousands of topics which you may have subscribed to manually it would be wrong in our opinion to remove your subscription.
You yourselves can subscribe/unsubscribe from each topic very easily using the options at the bottom of every topic page.

We need your email and username for the forum to function correctly, your password is stored on our system but we have no access to view it, we can however change your password or username for you if you request so.

We will continue to store and use your information as securely as we can, We don’t share or sell your data to any third party (we never have and never would !).
Your email is stored but NOT available for others to view, if people email you via the forum it is done through our system software.

Holding your data ensures we can get in touch with you quickly if we need to, it ensures you have access to all parts of the forum (dependant on user level set)

If you’re happy how things work, then you need not do anything, everything will continue as if nothing had changed.

We are a hobby forum not a business or a non profit organisation/charity. As we can’t obtain a clear answer from anyone regarding our need to comply with GDPR, we have decided to do our best to comply anyway.

Please see our privacy policy for a summary of how we look after your data.

It would help us substantially if you could like this post to show you have read and understood all written above.

Thanks guys :thumbsup

Thanks for the likes guys, :IANW
Worryingly the post has had some 40+ views but only 5 likes (at the time of this reply) .. that’s not great to be honest.

If you’ve read the post and agree with it then please do like the post so we know the numbers are matching something like.
If we don’t get the feedback and we find we do have to comply then we may have to take drastic action, possibly even closure of the site... we can’t afford to be fined !
This is possibly a legal compliance for fribs & sibs, it’s not a poll :?

We don’t ask much guys, we do however put a hell of a lot of time and effort into this forum, please help us to continue with it.

Regards,
Martin
