Fishing, (not from the Sib)

Post by Andy B » 06 May 2018, 15:12

Me and some mates took a charter boat out of keyhaven Saturday.
Fantastic day, great weather and plenty of fish.
Even bought one home for the pot :D

I'm not a fisherman but I must admit looks like great fun! Alot of different fish there one of them looks like a shark?! Do you take any home to eat?

The shark looking things are Smooth Hounds.
All went back except the Bream :D

In the morning the Rays and Smuts were caught on whole squid.
The tide was a spring and running fast, took a lot of weight to get the bait down nearly 80'.
At slack water we started to get plauged with Doggies so switched to lighter gear.
The bream started feeding about 2 hours after high water just as the tide was turning.
There were hitting just about anything you put down although I had most success with squid heads.
Others were catching on rag worm, lug, squid strips and even mackerel.
They are crafty Buggers, hitting the bait as soon as the lead hit the bottom.
2 hits and the hook was clean!
Good sport thigh on light gear :D
