That sounds like a nice trip Chris, I had to go out into the Severn against the tide in a force 6 & came back in on a force 7 which wasn’t very pleasant even in a 7.5mtr rib but it was good as we learned how to handle the boat & when to throttle up & down, far more interesting than flat calm water.

Unfortunately we can't change the weather, so on training courses we just have to work with whatever weather we are given. That sometimes means the instructors have to be fairly creative (finding sheltered places to operate if really windy, or using tidal streams instead of wind for the slow speed manoeuvres if no wind).

Luckily in the whole of this year I have only had to cancel two PB2 courses (both times we had gusts of Beaufort F10 forecast).

Last Tuesday marked the end of my boating season. I'm hanging my lifejacket up now until next season, which restarts on the 9th Jan :)

Still too early to predict the weather for our F-Ribs trip on the 20th though.

Glad you are getting plenty of time on the water this winter Chris.

This was Sunday 7th January, I can hardly recall such a calm, sunny day last summer.

Douglas :)
