Have you done anything to counter the torque placed into the original seat by you now having a back rest? Mitch connected is front and aft seats together which negated this load.
Not a complete idiot - some parts are missing.

Good idea, maybe utilise the oars as stiffeners joining the seats would do it.

Oldman, The oars wont work as they are made of plastic and will not be suitable.
ChrisParish, I will have to do some sort of support for the seat like Mitch has done, taking it on the river (photo below) it was not stable enough leaning on the back rest, I will also have to make another bench seat that is thicker, I have some ideas on how I will do this and will put a update how I get on.
The seat was unstable and I did not catch any fish but it was a lovely day.
Below is the PMs from Mitch that persuaded me to buy a seat
First, The seat is a great, it’s comfortable, swivels so u don’t get arm ache.
It made 100% improvement to the ride, I had the same problem sitting on the tubes for hours. It puts you up higher so easier to stretch your legs & I found more control over the boat.
The only downside is that I wouldn’t trust the seat leaning against it in rougher weather so if going wot I would lean forward taking the weight off the back rest apart from that well worth the money.
Second, The wood is fixed on both seats by bolts & that stops the seat from moving as the bench seat is only held in place by the straps on the tubes which flex but the wood holds both seats rigid.

Prematurely washed, cleaned, fettled, serviced, winterised and put into storage main rib in response to ‘Boris The Barsteward’s’ impending national lockdown.
Shame, but planning on keeping reserve rib little ‘Stumpy’ ready and primed over winter as a fast response craft, able to launch at a moments notice for any off season south coast ‘forum jaunts’ arranged if lockdown relaxed.

I have to buy a new boat before I can come out to play, regardless of the lockdown bs.

Re: What did you do to or with your boat today?
I have just made an outboard engine stand out of a sack barrow as shown in the photos, it is now time to put my boat, outboard and trailer away in the garage till sometime next year so it is now tucked away till the next outing.
The weather has changed for the worst and we are now in a lock down plus the river where I put my boat is international waters that separates Spain & Portugal so I cannot use it on there at all and not sure when, hopefully looking at around mid-February fingers crossed and we get back into some kind of normality.
While it is in it resting place in the garage, I can look at the swivel seat I bought and come up with a solution to make more secure on my Sib
I have some ideas but if anyone has any ideas please let me know.
Will keep you updated on my progress

Oooh nice!
Outboard stand looking good.
Garage looking even better.
Reckon I could winter in there ‘no problemo’
Not jealous at all.
PS: No useful advice on swivel seat sorry, but a big sofa, an even biggger tv and a drinks fridge would be the ‘dogs bollox’ in that there man cave.

Any mileage in attempting a repair on the hp floor. Appreciate its difficult as leaking under the edge seam, but if you can locate said leak, Fenlander on the other channel had good results repairing an Aerotec hp floor by injecting Stormsure/McNetts Aquaseal with a syringe. Managed to get some glue through to the inside acting as a plug held in place by air pressure.

@harrison That’s a very interesting idea. Got nothing to lose by trying it. I’ll take a look.

Went out to the garage n pulled the cover back to see if it looked as it did the last time I looked at it. To my surprise it looked even better. Can't wait till spring in Northern Michigan.
