New smallish Sib required
Although very happy with my 460S, it is a beast to put in my XC90 and I sometimes think a smaller package which could go in a smaller estate car, would be handy.
My thoughts are that it would be around 3-3.6m, fold up compactly, not weigh too much and potter along with a 3.5hp Mariner 4 stroke.
Use would be for river estuaries, canals, lakes etc. Anything sea related I'd use the 460S for.
Looking on here, there are many makes, different floors, keels etc.
I'd want a shaped floor, not flat bottomed. Ability to plane would be good but admittedly not with the 3.5hp I expect.
I'm pretty sure the Honwave types are very capable but just too big/heavy. I thought Excel 365?
What suggestions do you all have?
Thanks

Wouldn’t call an Excellent 365 lightweight at 70kg, even a T38 only weighs 49kg.
Although not got one would seriously consider one of the lightweight inflatable catamarans, especially if wanting to use small motors. Have a look at the Elling KB350 or if you want to splash more cash then one of the Takacats or, my personal favourite, the TrueKit Discovery.

Have a look on portaboat, they may have something for you.
There’s also the smaller plastimo folding boat or an other smaller Frib?
The Honwave T32 is great, anything with an ally floor just adds weight and bulk
A solid hull or a V floor would maximise the little outboards potential

Re: New smallish Sib required
Thanks guys,
You're right, the website I was looking at, had the weight wrong. On the Honwave site, it's 37kg which is half of the 460s!
However, the size matters more than weight. I had a look at the Takacat 340S which is intriguing and very light but more than I wanted to pay - the T32ie fits the bill well and just in my budget. It seems quite capable, more than any other sub £1000 SIB perhaps?
My only confusion is the T38 at only slightly more on some sites and even more capable.

The T38ie is slightly heavier than the T32ie but one hell of a different boat...DrHair wrote: ↑02 Aug 2020, 12:34Thanks guys,

Far better ride/comfort than the T32ie but then you're wanting a smaller boat ???
The T32 is not to be scoffed at, its very good !

Re: New smallish Sib required
I have a Elling kb 350 and would recommend it weighing in at 40 kg, I am no youngster and can mange this boat with no problem on my own.
Being a Trimiran and have a 9.8 hp on it it planes easy and go's very well,
I am very pleased with mine and have put a photo of it below of mine.

Re: New smallish Sib required
I checked the Takacat website and the Lx340 weight 47kg, so it seems the Honwave T32 IE is much lighter.
