Zodiac MK1 classic no rowlocks at all

Post by Devondafty » 12 Jul 2020, 09:40

Hi, O have a 2006 MK1 classic in more or less unused condition.

It doesn't have, and never did have rowlocks of any sort. I have heard the French paddle from the bow but surely this is a fools errand?

I can't imagine how tedious that would be, and as an emergency in anything other than a tiny breeze it wouldn't get you anywhere!?

Perhaps a standby up paddle board paddle would suffice for emergencies?

I suppose I could buy stick on rowlocks, pins and oars but that will run into hundreds for anything that won't fail instantly.

Does anyone have any experience of the bow paddling or am I best to bite the bullet and get some stick on rowlocks and matching oars?

Many thanks,

Ian

The Row lock issue can be easily resolved, you can buy rowlock mounts from eBay or boat chandlers pretty cheaply.
Railblaza option also available which will open up a whole mounting option for you.

You’ll probably pick up some two piece pads from eBay - amazon or a chandlers for a reasonable price.
