Things are progressing nicely, I now have a motor and have ordered my SIB, like Martin and Harrison have suggested a trip to the lakes would be a nice idea and I wouldn't mind tagging along as long you guys don't mind and are willing to help a newbie learn the ropes.

Cheers.

I ended up purchasing a 9.9 2 stroke Evinrude (1982) it was too good to miss, fully serviced and came with fuel tank etc so opted for that rather than a chinese copy of a Japanese brand. And I have ordered a 3.3m Boatworld air deck.

I have that same engine (branded Johnson) on my Zodiac 320 and it goes very well indeed. They are a bit thirsty but you can buy a lot of fuel for the price of a modern 4 stroke.

Hopefully I will have loads of fun with it, I did worry initially due to the age but for the price I just had to give it a go.

They are pretty bulletproof if they have been looked after and it is easy to get spares.

That's good to hear. The only thing I would like to replace is the seal around the hood. I don't know if this is something that is available online anywhere.

You can get a new replacement seal from the US. They aren’t cheap ($65, I think)

I think that’s the correct one, but without your model number I can’t be certain.
