Off to pentewan sands next weekend for a week!

Post by mattswan2512 » 09 Jul 2016, 18:04

Off to pentewan next weekend for a week of chilling and body boarding and a bit of fishing. Im not taking my boat anymore as i dont have a car with a towbar now as the tow car was sold. Going with Aaronb of here who is taking his boat so will bum a lift around the cornish coast with him.
Cant wait as the weather looks good altho a tad windy which will suit the body boarding but not as much the boating.

Any must see sights let me know!!

We go to Pentewan Sands nearly every year, and we are down there again the end of August. Love the place.

As for exploring, your sense of adventure is your own limitation....! I personally find, the scenery better, if you turn starboard when leaving Pentewan, towards Mevagissey, Gorran Haven, and Caerhays, etc.
Turn to port, and head round towards Carlyon Bay, and Charlestown is worth a visit to see the Pirate ships. There always seems to be at least one in there, but which one depends on, if they are out on a film shoot. You can carry on towards Par, which has a nice beach, but is over shadowed by the cement works. :no

But the big bonus is, which ever way you go, most places serve Rattler cider......... :rofl :cheers :cheers :cheers

The restaurant on the beach was absolutely amazing up until last year, when they changed the franchise to some greasy american burger joint. :thud We thought we would give it a go, NEVER again :o :o :o It was disgusting, and bloody expensive.
But the Ship Inn, the pub in Pentewan village, does really nice food, and did I mention Rattler cider :whistle

We always headed down to Sennen for the surfing/bodyboarding, always used to get a wave, sometimes the wave got me. :o We're going the other way next week, we're doing the Scottish NC 500, but continuing down the west coast instead of crossing the Great glen.

I was going to take the F-rib, but I'd probably only get to use it once or twice, so I won't bother this time. I might check out a chip shop or two on my way down the west coast. ;-)

Let us know how busy it is down there?
I'm currently getting weekly emails from them offering last minute deals and notifications of empty pitches.
might slip in a last minute long weekend away :D
