When you first came on here you were asking about ribs, got lots of good advice, promptly ignored it (don’t blame you), then bought a big heavy sib and put it on a trailer. Hmmm!
Now sounds like the sib is not for you. Fair do’s, but don’t really think you’ve given it a fair chance. Steering wise a tiller is far more accurate/sensitive (read twitchy) than console steering and the same goes for the throttle response. The T40’s a big heavy sib and probably far more seaworthy than you or me would be comfortable in. Get some miles in and see what it does before throwing in the towel.
If you really do want a rib then I’ll give you some hard facts. Don’t buy anything with a shallow V or anything much under 5.5m if you’re after some serious sea keeping. Pissing around in a shallow V under 4.6m lightweight hull with comfort style seating (ie at the stern) will not give you a massive improvement in seakeeping or comfort. True bluewater ribs really start at or above 6m and 150hp. My little rib is way under this criteria.
Of course I really don’t think you’re r after that kind of performance/handling. In fact if sea fishing was my main bag I’d not even go for a rib. My choice would be one of the sport fishers like an Endeavour 500 (other makes available) with perhaps a 60/70/80 on the back. Loads of deck space, a cuddy to shelter, decent freeboard and narrow gunwales for hauling in your catch. Plus with a decent V hull and 60 plus horses, fast enough for some fun and wakeboarding/skiing etc.
Personally I’d persevere and explore the limits of the T40 for a bit longer. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
