This lockdown malarky has resulted in some interesting decisions - and rather than work on our SR4 refurb, we have just brought a little Humber 4m.

Good size for the kids to develop skills, and for some fun!

Maiden voyage (for us) was on the Thames - looking forward to getting its legs stretched in Southampton Water soon....

If I could work out how to add a picture I would!!

An old picture as she isn't on the water at mo but this is our 4.8m RC....where all this began really. She was my boat originally but I had to let her be used for teaching when we first set up. Now she has reverted to being my boat but still brought in for courses in the height of the summer for people who may be using smaller boats, safety boats at clubs or youngsters.
She was a great buy -I was so nervous when buying her- first big boat purchase but she has been perfect. Very reluctant to part with her. Would love to trailer down to the West Country to explore. Very capable boat - have never felt unsafe.

Cheers - and for Peace of mind, she hadn’t been abandoned :-) [although it’s tempting]- she is a capable Rya l2 with a decent level of helm time.

:-D

Good on her, great to build confidence. I still look back to the days when my parents rented a house next to Christchurch River and I had freedom to roam nearby with an inflatable boat and a small engine. I guess looking back I knew there were rules (like lifejackets were always mandatory in our house) and if I hadn't kept to them it would have been the end of my boating alone but I'm still not sure my dad knew I used to take the boat out when he was at work - Must ask him one day :-) These days I guess insurance alone probably would rule that out and I have no idea how I'd have reacted if anything had gone wrong so not advocating it, just reminiscing :-D
