I'd be wanting 30 gees on the back at least..
It's a weight, handling vs power and economy thing...
Lots of homework imo.
I've been increasingly disappointed with 30hp on my 420. With four adults, dog and gear on board it becomes very sluggish managing 20-22 knots flat out (on a water skiing section of the Trent). It went up on the plane ok but not without effort. The WOT revs were low so I was looking to get a four blade prop but instead I've secured a second hand replacement engine with zero hours, a 40hp Mercury EFI which I will fit when we get back from our hols in Lymington.

If anyone wants a full service history 2012 Mercury 30 with approx 150 hours, batteryless fuel injection with stainless prop them please let me know. Happy to demonstrate anytime in the next few weeks. It is having a Mercury dealer service on Tuesday before we go.

Regarding fuel economy this is admittedly brilliant. 8 hours continuous usage never took more than 24 litres to refill the tank. I figure that I'll now need to carry a spare tank to top up but hopefully if the loading and conditions are the same then the difference between 526cc and 748cc will be minimal. It won't be bank breaking if we only use the boat 20 times a year anyway.

Think you've already made up your mind but, we had a 20hp on our 460 SIB and I longed for a 30 or 40. If it's efficiency you're after, for 4s I don't think it makes much difference. I'm shocked at how our 90hp sips fuel.
Wrote a note said, 'back in a minute'. Bought a boat and I sailed off in it.

Andy’s long gone from here I’m afraid.

He went for a new 460 with a Suzuki 60...so assume he’s well chuffed.

Really pleased for you - I am fast becoming disillusioned with SIB fishing as I like to be able to stretch my legs.

So where are you going out from these days?
Not a complete idiot - some parts are missing.

Spent a week up in Scotland, stayed in Ardbeg, on Holy Loch, launched from the Marina just up the road, (£18 per launch but great slipway, nice people, cafe, and a pub over the road, and really clean toilets) Easy access for Loch Long. Had a chat with the various MP's lol ! Checked out our nuclear weapon storage, the porpose, and loads of mackeral, big ones !
But 9.5 hours to get there ! Hard work ! That was the middle of August, and only saw x2 ribs, a very large oil tanker, and a couple ferries !

Launch at Suffolk Yacht Club now (Felixstowe) some great fishing and only costs about £200 for the whole year. Launch as many times as you like ! Its only 2 hours for me to get there while towing. You got x2 great Estuaries, to troll in, and only 10 mins to the open sea, where apart from the channel its only like 2-3 meteres deep.

Yea, not arf ! I was going to bling it up a bit, but that would entail adding more weight on the back which I don't want, so restricted to adding a few rod holders, etc. Huge amount of storage spaces, much more control over speed and direction, I can honestly say worth the upgrade. However, I learnt allot from an inflatable, and glad I bought that first !
