Ducksback Cover for a 4.8m Ribcraft?

Post by Sarah » 24 Aug 2019, 10:37

Anyone on here bought a Ducksback Cover for a 4.8m Ribcraft?
Any comments - good or bad?
I'm also being a little lazy - Any idea what size I need - I'm at home and want to order it - boat is at marina! Centre console but no screen and no A frame.

Thanks

Hi Sarah, I have a Smartwave 4800 (actually just under 5m) it is a centre co sole model and my ducksback cover is a generous fit, which might suit a RIB of your size. Sorry I don't remember the size and cant pop out to check the label as I'm still in hospital!

Thanks for reply - Ducksback seem to get good reviews as a lightweight cover. I have a full winter cover when she is tucked up but a lightweight one would help keep the dirt off during the summer.
Interesting to hear of your Smartwave - I've just looked them up and they look great - slightly less beam at 1980 whilst Ribcraft is 2100 but gives me a comparison (although the beam in the Smartwave RCD document seems more like 2.1 from a mega quick glance)
The RCD doc is a good read and interestingly gives advice on safety items to carry on board - interesting as its something often asked on the forums.
What material is the boat made of - looked but can't clarify it yet - is it similar to the Rigiflex, Whaley and Triumph style boats?

Sorry to hear you're still in hospital - hope you're feeling better soon - rotten luck with finally a good forecast this weekend. At least you can do research, order boating bits and make boating plans from the hopsital bed. Hope you're afloat again soon.

@sarah Thanks. I love my Smartwave, just about bombproof, it's rotomoulded with LDPE which is neutrally buoyant itself, double skinned hull filled with floatation foam. I've beached mine on sand, shingle and small rocks with no harm done - just ease in! any scuffs come out in a few minutes using a heat gun - back to shiny again. search youtube for Smartwave, there are some interesting vids, including one being chainsawed in half - on the water, and staying afloat.

Sounds a little like our Rigiflex, very durable.
