Registration requirements

Post by Paddymc » 24 Jul 2020, 19:13

Hi all im looking for advice on boat registration. I have just registered with Anglesey and recieved a small sticker through the post witch looks like this

Is this all I need to display on the boat? or do I need to display the corresponding numbers on my boat in a larger format.
First time having to go through this registration process (money making racket) and would greatly appreciate your comments to point me in the right direction.

You should have full instructions on either the application website or your registration docs ?

I’ve only ever registered with Gwynedd and they provided a number that had to be displayed on both sides of the boat.
Looks like your council do it differently.

Perhaps @Compo1804 has experience with registration...

All that is mentioned on website martin is that the sticker must be displayed on the boat clearly in view. no documentation just a recipet of payment via email and the above sticker through the post.
Anglesey mention on there website that registration with them is reconised by other councils ( gwynedd conway and denbighshire) one of the reasons I registered with them .
What I want to try and avoide is rocking up at one of these other councils sites then to be told half way through getting set up that I can not launch because I do not have correct numbers on display.

Hi guys,
As far as Im aware you only need that sticker and the number written in that white box.
Cant seem to keep a boat long enough to register uhum!uhum!, 🤪🤪
Previous boats Ive owned have always had the sticker on it with faded reg no, but nothing else.
It’s mainly so they see your registered, and how much to charge you for launching over the “under 10hp free”.
But I could be totally work of course🙈

Did you get a number of some sort, or is that your reg no on the sticker?

Just read the article on line, as as you say, just display the sticker is enough, but the list of launching sites require extra launching fees at some sites with 10hp and above. Total rip off I agree and probably will never purchase one
Hope this helps

Compo I assume that is the registration number is the number on the sticker didn't recieve anything else from the cc , think I'm just going to go with sticking that on and see how I go unless anyone knows otherwise.
so what number should be in the white box on the sticker then engine HP??.

Ive spoken to my brother in law and he tells me just stick that on the boat as it is.
They will see the engine from cowl or Id plate.
Where are you going to be launching from?

Will do thanks for your help Mal :cheers .
Thinking of heading to colwyn bay today to give it a go might just go from the very top end of the beach were it's a bit quiet.
Might get down to Anglesey next weekend any pointers as were to go? Away from the great masses.
