Gwynedd & Angelsey Permit Info

I visited Black Rock Sands and fully expected just being able to chuck the SIB into the Pick-Up and pay the usual parking fee for the beach and just chuck the boat in the sea :stop

Apparently not. :Confused
You must register your vessel with Gwynedd Council, There's an annual subscription for your vessel, and I.D plates are given, which must be displayed above the water level on both sides of your boat. See Here for the registration fee's
A registration with Gwynedd covers you for Conwy and Anglesey too. If launching from Black Rock, it's a £13 daily fee to cover parking & boat launch. Other sites will have their own charges. :wedgie

Just a few pointers, :help
A Kill Chord is compulsory & must be signed on the boat, in view!
£3million third party insurance is compulsory
You must be 18 or over to use a power boat, or have levels I or 2 RYA (personal water craft certificate of competence)

Here's a :Link or two
Gwynedd Maritime
Registration Fee's
Registration Form
Harbours-and-Coast-Regulations
Harbour / Beach Offices
Maps, Where to visit

This is s but of a copy/repost from my holiday, but listed it here so as to keep the info readily available for anyone needing it.

Martin :cheers

I'm amazed that you have to have a permit etc to go boating in North Wales, is this the norm in other parts of the country, I know you have to register for lakes etc, but not for the sea, don't have to register up on the west coast, is this just a Money earner for them ?

Yep. It's not to use the sea it's for access to the sea. The council owns slipways and access to the beaches in North Wales so make you pay for the privilege.

Plenty of remote beaches where a permit is not a problem along all of that coast line.

Hi Heanor,

Ref your last about plenty of access and launch sites along the North Wales coast, we live on the top end, Nr Prestatyn. Do you have any details of the free ones, especially on Anglesey please?

Regards,

Loz
