Hi all, Andy from Scotland just joining

Hi all, Andy here. Just to introduce myself. I've just started SIB boating again after a 47 year absence! My original SIB was a Campari round tail powered by a 1.5hp Forty Featherweight Seagull 2stoke outboard. I still have the outboard and it still starts first pull but I've upgraded to a 6hp Yamaha 4 stoke which pushes a 3.2m Boatworld Air floor nicely.
I'm based in the Highlands near Loch Ness and plan on boating our wonderful coast both East and West. First trip has been from the Big Sand camp site near Gairloch.
Thanks for accepting me in to the forum.

Hi Andy, welcome aboard.
How does it feel to be back in a sib after all these years?
Did you have any other crafts in between ?
Martin

Hi Martin
Thanks for the welcome message.
It's great to have my own boat modest as it may be!
My only boating since owning the Campari as a teenager has been using clinker wooden boats for loch fishing and helping a friend with a 13m sailing yacht down the Caledonian canal.
I used the Seagull regularly on the clinker boats despite the transom height being too much. It's a gutsy motor and even in a stiff breeze would move the heavy wooden boat against the wind.
I can see however that the F6CMH is going to be more capable and with the external tank much easier than trying to fill the Seagull's tank boning on the waves!
I'm taking it easy to start with as my wife has no experience with boating and so far is enjoying the experience.

Thanks for the welcome Roger.
We'll be back to the Gairloch area as it's quite sheltered and an interesting coastline. There's a slip near by the harbour that we'll use as it will be a day trip from home rather than the camp site slip at Big Sand.
Also plan to visit Arisaig in September so will post some pics from that trip.
I'll certainly be posting more pics and trip reports.
I'm finding the forum a mine of useful information

Hi Andy
My name is Jordan , I am 56yo this year and I live in Aberdeen.
I also have a pretty much same setup as yours, with a 3.3m inflatable boat and a 6hp yamaha and I am looking to find someone with a similar setup who is willing to go on wee trips 2-3 days or longer on the sea or sea lochs and eventually stay over night camping.
I am doing this for the past 10 years and I have explored my local sea coastal waters NE Scotland and also some North of Scotland ( Kyle of Tongue area )
It would be nice to start exploring the west coastal sea waters or sea lochs.
I will have few days off in September between 9-19, so if that suits you we can make a plan together.
Wish you all the best and hope to meet you soon.
