Hi Downsized from a Cobra 6.8m Yam225 rib to boatinabag True Kit Discovery 3.3m. Yes very different...

Live in Bristol, hail from Brixham, so wanted part-time boat.

Desperately sourcing ‘right’ engine. Clean 9.8hp tohatsu 2S S/S seam like hens teeth (pm me if anyone has one to sell), so may settle on DFA6hp to get going. Am also investigating commercial use new Yam 15hp 2S as sweet spot.

Have loads of questions from pumps to tanks so. will go on main boards.

The Tohatsu 9.8hp and 18hp are always pretty rare, or at least ones in good condition.

Hankered after one of those for a while. Went Elling 350 in the end. Closed bow but still a tunnel hull it goes very well and an absolute hoot playing around in the surf zone.

Good luck finding a ‘holy grail’ Twatsu 9.8, even secondhand for a stoopid price. If you qualify for a new ‘commercial’ Yam 15 then go for it….it’ll fly. Cracking motor.

Yep, been studying their form for a year or so. Was and still might go for the recent 4.0m version and load it up with a Tohatsu mfs20e, but that sort of gets away from the transportable luggable bit, so have committed to the 3.3m in red.

Could point to getting the more readily available Suzuki DF6 for the inbound boat and then seeIng how season goes. Will also get additional Solas prop then have it cupped as recommended to mitigate cavitation/ventilation.

The True Kit principal is very helpful and certainly knows his stuff. I have gone for the transom wheels, additional railblazer ports etc, and am just about to nip down to chandlers to get them to make up a double bridle for bow. Got most other stuff, but there is always something.

Looking fwd to getting wet.

Im thinking of Ullswater for my first two hours running in. 19mph sounds really good, will probably frighten my self to death with the 20hp.

I went to Parkfoot campsite near Pooley Bridge. It costs £5 for the days parking and launch, I telephoned the day before and paid over the phone as I wanted to be there early. Pleased I went for my first go.

Brilliant I will do the same, just been told my boat has arrived in the UK and will be here next week.
