Greeting from Northwich Cheshire.

I am a new comer the to the site and boating this being my first boat below is what I have.
It is a Elling KB 350 Soft Floor Rib with a Orca 9.8 4 stroke outboard a complete package ready to go, it is only 4 months old and used once for 3 hours only so is still new, under garentee, I collected this on Sunday and on the Monday collected a used Extreme 350kg Bunker Trailer that I was watching just in case I bought this boat so all in all I really have a complete package ready to hook up and away i go.

As Said I am a novice with a lot to learn I will probably take the RYA basic test to give me confidence and hopefully with help from the members buy the time the weather gets good I will be more confident.

If there there any feedback's on the outfit that I have bought please tell me what you think.

All the best
Bob

Nice one Bob and welcome to the forum.

Think we have at least three KB350’s on here now so should get some decent advice.

Enjoy your new rig. :thumbsup

Thanks for the welcome and thanks for sorting the problem Martin.
Good to know there are members Harrison with Elling KB 350 air floor inflatable boat so I look forward to shearing opinions and how they have set up, as I will need help in getting the boat rigged out and what is needed being a new to this sport.
A few questions I would like to get a fish finder what is the best at the best price.
I would like to use the boat for fishing so any recommendations what rods, reels and tackle needed
When I bought the boat it came with Anchor and rope, Flairs, Ores

I will probably need lots of help and will update with photos when I have inflated it and put it on the trailer
All the best
Bob

Hi Bob, I too have a new Elling, as does Andy on this forum. We have both posted stuff regarding our boats. I have spent today modifying my trailer to take the boat. I’ll post some pics up tomorrow.

I have done a lot of fishing from kayaks and small boats. I’ll get back to you on what you need. Time to go watch some telly :D

Don’t think there is a best to be honest, although my advice would be stick to one of the main brands and go for the biggest screen your budget will allow.

Cactus Navigation are usually quite keen price wise and regularly have promos on. Main brand basic fishfinders start with something like the Garmin Striker 4 or Lowrance HOOK 2-4x

Worth bearing in mind the fishfinders have no mapping. The gps will know the coordinates of your location, but not show on a map/charts. If you need the navigating facility of charts then perhaps worth considering a combi chartplotter. Typically chart plotters don’t come with a transducer so need to factor this in with price.

Hi Grey,
Thanks for getting in touch and good to know there are 3 of us with the same boat, I have looked at Andys blog whats in the box and found it very interesting to see what I will be looking forward to when I get started on mine also posted a comment, I collected mine last Sunday and is wrapped up in the garage waiting for some good weather.

I look forward to see how you get on modifying your trailer to take the your boat as I will have to do the same on my Extreme 350kg Bunker, I am looking forward finding how you got on and to see the photos.

Thanks for offer help and advice, I will need a lot of it as to what is needed for the boat and type of fishing tackle I will need.
When I make a start on mine I will do a report and photos, I sent an email to Boatword asking about the Borika mount fitting and they said they will be getting them in a month I am also ordering an elasticated cover from them.

harrison, They both look good but not sure what to go for In your opinion what would you recommend that does all you need plus to be able to plot points and is user friendly

Thanks again
Bob

Hi Bob, I got my trailer sorted at last. It took me all weekend on and off. I had to modify it a little. I’ll put a Post up with some measurements for the bunks which should save you some time.

Fishfinders. I have a hummingbird with built in plotter. I wouldn’t be without it. Whenever I catch a decent fish or find some structure I just push a button and mark it. It’s also got me home safely on my kayak when mist has come in and I couldn’t see land. Be aware that they don’t come with detailed charts though and you could be paying £200 for a U.K. map. You can pick used ones up on eBay and the likes.

Do you fish at all or are you a complete newbie?

Hi Grey
Glad to hear it went fine with the modifications over the weekend, look forward reading your post how you done it and get ideas and measurements be great help

I have read that the Garmin striker 4 / plus or Lowrance hook2 4x are very popular what do you think and how would you rate them against the Hummingbird what is the model and how much is it. Be quite honest i am confused what to go for.

I realy like my fresh water fishing my garage is my fishing hut where I make my rigs and have all the gear rods, reel, 16mt pole seat box trolly you name it I have got it.

I have never done sea fishing so all new to me love being by the water and being retired that is why I have decided to buy inflatable and looking forward to a different type of fishing and the excitement of a new adventure.

All the best with your boat
Bob

Ahh, a fresh water fisherman. I too like a bit of the unsalted stuff. You should take to sea fishing no problem. Much less complicated. As far as fish finders go, they all do the same thing. The lads I fish with all use different brands. Just stick with one of the big names and look for one within your price bracket. They all have lots of features you will never use. All you really need is to see what the bottom looks like and what depth of water you are in. One with a plotter will also give you speed and navigation abilities, plus you can add markers.
