Newbie introduction

Post by Caledonia01 » 18 Jan 2023, 16:47

Hi All,

LiamO here, just came across this site while researching small fishing boats (which I now understand to be the darkside :yay ).
I have been boating on inland waterways in Ireland for 20 odd years in a Haines sedan 31 but have over the last few years got into sea shore fishing which made me look at kyaks and that whole craze which seems to be huge but decided against it for H&S reasons!
I'll enjoy looking back at past posts and get the lie of the land on options and no doubt be in touch.

Cheers,

LiamO.

Hi Liam and welcome aboard the forum.

Once you've had a chance to settle in and browse though some of the info on here, just sing out if you have any questions.
cheers
Roger

Thanks for the welcome guys.

So might as well jump in with the obvious. Looking for a small rib that can either fit in back of commercial 4x4 or on top of, decent wee engine, space for a few rods, fuel tank, fish finder and fingers crossed a few fish, maybe a cooler box and all in the most stable platform available with no more than two on board. Wheels a cert as I’d be solo most of the time.
I know, it’s probably the most standard opening post from a newbie going and I will go through the history but you know how it is - doesn’t take us long to get excited about days out on our own!

Thanks Liam.

OK - So just missed a (claimed) 1 year old Honwave T38 with 20hp honda, had wheels, two bench seats and trailer and was for sale for €5,000 ono - Now bearing in mind everything over here is at least 30% more expensive, I would be really interested to hear what you guys think of that pricing. It would probably cost me a grand in expenses if I was to travel to Scotland or Wales to purchase something similar.
Appreciate any feedback, cheers Liam.
