Loch Earn 12/08/21

Post by warder54 » 21 Aug 2021, 16:48

Spent a nice day trolling up and down Loch Earn, my mate had 2 nice Brown Trout, I just enjoyed the day! and watching him catch using my lure ;-)
Heading back there on Monday, Slipway booked for 10 ish, Launch is £17 (20hp and over outboard) Fishing permit is £12 a day. Found a PDF informing of the regs for here this morning. Launching from the beach (like I did last week!) is not permitted without seeking the land owners permission.

Revisit 23/8
Another great day out on the Loch. No fish, too bright a day, lots of fish on sonar view but all below 30 mtr.
Even without fish, you cant beat a day on the water. Danny took a few pics.

Well done (your mate) on the fish, and good pictures. Are there any Ferox in the loch?
When trolling, for Bass, we've found 3mph is a good speed, is it about the same for trout?

Hi @Stray
Yes there are some ferox - no idea when one was caught last!
3mph does seem to be about the sweet spot, the occasional change of speed sometimes prompting a hit.
When we bought our permits we were told that a week before the Hot weather hit, there was a competition, 10 boats, 20 anglers: over 300 fish were caught!

Hello,

Looking for some assistance from the community with regards to Loch Earn.

I have an Intex seahawk 4 inflatable boat. I recently purchased the intex outboard mount and the bison 40lbs electric motor. I was wondering if i am able to take this out on the loch to fish?.

I am aware a permit is required to fish.

If i can do so do i need to use the slipway provided or can i park near the authorised camping zones and assemble/ launch from the shallows?.

I tried to research online but most text on it has been a little non commital and i just want to do it the right way

Way late responding here! Spent most of last year away on a cruise and Caravanning.
For future info:
Slip is good with easy access. And is the only allowed place to launch unless you have land owners permission.
You MUST prove that you have insurance or you will not be allowed to launch.
Electric or Petrol outboards allowed.
