fishing trip in the Excel 395

Post by Furyan » 21 Jun 2020, 22:54

Ist Trip 3hrs Flamborough
Set off at 6pm was foggy but it cleared and we had some interesting fishing with 54 Mackerel 11 cod, couple of wrasse, coalfish, and a herring. all on the same set of mackerel feathers . Drifting without loosing any gear. We kept 24 mackerel, 3 cod. rest returned . sea flat calm

Second trip set of 4;30am From North bay Scarborough
till 5pm looked at a couple of areas but too choppy so decided north bay Scarborough , fished around the marine drive picking up a few codlings on shads and Hokkis, decided to head south to Cayton Bay picked up a couple more cod, then set of towards Filey Brigg . boats every where plenty of fish about , we decided to avoid going for Mackerel as the mess they make is unreal lol.
headed back north towards Scarborough straight into fish again but this time a couple of miles north of Scarborough Jacksons bay .
Sea started to get bit lumpy but the Excel handled it fine , headed back to North beach where it was packed with tourist who just swamped us looking to see what we caught . No respect for social distancing .
Total bag bag count 61 cod all around 3-4lbs kept 8 for family .

:D Well done on the fish, the season's finally getting going after a slow start at the end of lockdown. The Grockles can be a pain when you land. "have you caught owt Mr", "can I have a go in your boat" etc, etc, just show em a fish, smile and be polite.

By, that was a few years ago, good to here you've finally got a boat. No, the Zodiac went just after I took you out, I've had the F-Rib since then and not felt the need to change it. :)

Sounds like a good few trip! Did you launch from next to the surf shop at North Bay?
