Lock Lomond 2019

Post by DaveRolph » 22 Dec 2019, 09:38

September this year we had a few days at Loch Lomond.

I met up with Harry from this forum (AKA Gratemaker) and we messed about on the water and had a few beers together :cheers , needless to say I now have a new mate in Scotland and we had a "Grate" time

We stayed at the Lock Lomond Holiday Park, the touring spots are not as good as they used to be (moved back to make way for the holiday lodges) and there are certainly not enough toilets but the people were nice, we paid £30 for a mooring for 5 days although it was supposed to be more until I explained that it was a fold out dingy.

You will struggle to get a TV signal here but you can hook your Satellite Box into the dedicated points on any touring pitch as they are all super pitches.

Also for info, you need to register your boat to take it on the loch.

One other thing, this time of year there was no midges

Cracking videos. I enjoyed the drone footage.
I had my first Scotland boating experience since I was a child this year and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Not a complete idiot - some parts are missing.

As a group we’ve never done Lomond as it has camping and registration restrictions.
Go further north/east/west for more stunning views and free waters 👍🏻

I agree with Martin - loads of excellent spots on the west coast, less touristy than Loch Lomond, even more beautiful, dramatic scenery, sheltered sea lochs, no registration requirements, no fishing permits needed, etc etc.

Check out some of the many threads on here, many with video footage and loads of helpful advice on launch spots, camping etc.
cheers
Roger
