Honwave 32 IE and campervan - will it work?

A sib is a soft floor inflatable boat that will roll up and fit into a bag to ease with carrying or storage.
There are many different floor designs, exampoles include - Air floor mat, Wooden/Metal boards over an Inflatable Keel or a High Pressure V Floor.

Honwave 32 IE and campervan - will it work?

Post by pealeswoop » 05 May 2019, 16:48

HI,
I've set my sights on a Honwave 32 air deck, and hopefully a 15 hp O/B. But, rather than buy a VW transporter which will sort all storage for camping and the boat, my partner says we should buy a campervan - T6. Obviously less storage room, but does anybody combine a campervan with a SIB? I'm hoping to add an external sports box to the VW for other gear and appreciated that the boat/acceesories/ & O/B will just have to go in the camper, and will have to go outside when we cook, sleep etc. Will it fit in? Thoughts and views appreciated.

I’m not sure it’s practical to lift a deflated sib into a box on the roof

i have a t5 camper van and i had a 2.7 honwave until recently .its no bother getting everything in but then its just me and the wife. we have a drive away awning which is the key. i used to take the boat out and chain it to the wheel . we had loads of weekends away never any problem but i do agree thinking of putting it on the roof sounds like a bridge too far unless you are really big. do it . box trailer sounds good

Hi,
Thanks for the repiles. Any top box or box to go on the tailgate will be for other general gear. Adding a sports box will hopefully take some of the pressure off on the inside of the van. I'm not hoping to get the boat on the roof.... The thinking is is to get everything on board and use like a panel van, and then remove all boat stuff securely when using it for lounging, cooking/sleeping etc.
