Sib towbar carrier...

A sib is a soft floor inflatable boat that will roll up and fit into a bag to ease with carrying or storage.
There are many different floor designs, exampoles include - Air floor mat, Wooden/Metal boards over an Inflatable Keel or a High Pressure V Floor.

Sib towbar carrier...

Post by Andiac » 26 Nov 2017, 16:08

Iv downsized my estate car to one slightly smaller, and newer so don't want to cram a slimy wet boat in the boot, (prob won't fit anyway) after a day out. I have a towbar fitted, but no space to store a trailer and no funds to pay for local storage.
Seen these carrier type racks, various makes, that take up to 100kg, my towbar is rated to 80 kg.
I'm thinking..outboard and gear inside car, boat rolled up on the rack, anyone used this type of rack?

Not seen anybody use one for their sib, but cannot see any reason why it wouldn’t work, :thumbsup

Never seen this before but looks like a really good idea. If I were to put boat and engine in my boot it would be full, this solves that problem and like you say no water and dirt in the car.

I had an old towbar cycle carrier I thought I could convert but it only has a max 45 kg limit, then I started googling..
Thule make a luggage rack, but weight limit a bit low, also a company called buzzracks and the one above called bak rac, I might end up getting one of these

As long as you're not exceeding the vehicles max hitch rating I can't see a problem ...... I've seen plenty of these type of racks being used whilst traveling around Europe and USA.

Only problem with that is lifting a sib when packed up in its bag will be very difficult to that height
