I’m in, either 9th or 23rd don’t matter to me, would like to try different slips down the Solent.

Poole and Bournemouth have a floating ice cream boat in the summer!

I'm still aiming for the 9th March for this trip. If the weather doesn't play ball we will postpone to the 23rd.
On the weather side the trip will go ahead if the wind is F0 - F3 (as we will likely have wind over tide with a predominantly SW wind) and no precipitation (boating in rain isn't fun).

Chris , does "wind over tide "mean they are traveling in the same direction or opposite directions? People's opinions seem to vary!

Re: Sib trip to the Isle of Wight in March 9th or 23rd
On the 9th March the tide in The Solent will be travelling west to east from around 04:30 to around 11:30 when it will turn east to west until about 16:30. As the predominant wind direction is from the SW the wind and tide will likely be going in opposite directions between 11:30 and 16:30. I call this "wind over tide" or "wind against tide", where the wind and tide are going in opposite directions. If they are going the same way I call that "wind with tide".
If the wind does have a Westerly component and we do get wind over tide, then the sea state will be larger. If on the day we have an Easterly wind then it will be wind with tide and the sea state will be less (assuming the same wind strength, as the stronger the wind the bigger the sea state).

Ok , thanks Chris , many years ago I did a VHF course when i joined Solent Rescue at Lepe Beach . I can still remember the basics ,and wondered if that would qualify me to use a VHF . I'M m not sure if I still have my copy of the license .

Re: Sib trip to the Isle of Wight in March 9th or 23rd
Although not legal, lots of people do use a VHF without an operators SRC certificate.
@Dom and @Sarah at Dorset Marine Training run the VHF course, and I believe members of this forum get a discount on all training courses with them. Even if you know how to use a radio the SRC radio course is a great refresher (and now covers all the DSC functionality)
I suspect they would also be up for running some VHF courses specific for groups of F-Ribs forum members.
Don’t forget your radio itself needs it’s own licence from OFCOM, lots of people forget about that bit.

I’m really looking forward to the next outing, the last one was great fun. I can do either date now, which is great (for me).

Chris,
Any decision yet on a launch site where you’re throwing your sibs into the water.
Apologies if I’ve missed this.
If perchance, there’s a half decent slipway where my front wheel drive won’t slide down into the briny, then count me in, weather permitting.
Looking for another excuse to get the boat out before Spring, drive half way across the country for a jaunt and some good ‘crack’ with the lads.
