As we will be out in company with other boats an auxiliary engine isn't needed.
I'm not sure of the actual litres per mile consumption on a df20 but I doubt that 12 litres will get you from Warsash to Ryde and back. I'd be wanting a full 12 litre tank plus another 10 litres spare in Jerry cans. I suspect you will only use half to two thirds of that total amount but it's always best to carry spare fuel as you will not get any fuel in Ryde.
No chart plotter is required, but it might be handy to print off the passage plan I posted earlier in this thread. Then you can tick off each buoy that we pass on the route. You should be in sight of another boat on the trip all the way.
It would be worth swapping mobile numbers with a few of us if you don't yet have a VHF. Then if we see you stopped we can call you on a mobile rather than trying to contact you via VHF. Also if you lose sight of us you can phone us to stop and come back looking for you.
Some bottled water is always worth taking, plus some money for lunch in Ryde. I usually get charged around £5 to park a boat in Ryde. There is also harbour dues / launch fee at Warsash to pay (I think the amount is shown earlier in this thread).
Any more questions just ask away. It will be good to meet you on this trip.

Myself and a couple of friends recently bought an Frib 360 (I think Sam has already introduced you all to the boat in this thread previously...) and we were hoping to join you all on this trip!
Other than buzzing around Swanage bay for a few hours to get used to launching, recovering and general handling of the boat, this will be our first big outing so have a few questions we were hoping you could assist with...
- Firstly, we have a Suzuki DF20a which will be serviced within the next week (although it has <10 hours on it since new, apparently), is an auxiliary engine necessary for a trip like this?
- We have a 12L fuel tank currently, although the engine is supposed to be quite efficient, I'm guessing we will need a bigger/spare tank to ensure we have enough range?
- We have not yet invested in a Radio (nor license), GPS/Fish finder etc although planning to before the summer. However, as we are travelling in convoy would we manage without for this trip?
Obviously we have life vests, anchor, sufficient warm clothing etc, is there anything else that is vital for a journey like this?
Thanks all!
Adam
