Why not be open then instead of a private members club, sounds underhand to me.And also bear in mind Scotland is a free country if I want to go there is bugged all you and your buddies can do to stop me,after all I'm a resident.

Where and when and by whom was the "self imposed limit" introduced or was this done underhand on social media or the likes because it is never mentioned in this post until it was reached.

Scotland is a free country, absolutely. We couldn't possibly, nor would we wish to refrain anyone going where they wish to go....
I'm not about to start a tit for tat argument bmb. Unfortunately all the places we had scope for have been filled. Several of our regular members have missed the opportunity too to "join us"
Hopefully you'll keep your eyes peeled on the forum and join us on one of our other events/social/group meetings.

No point in looking in the forum when all the decisions are made off forum,so in effect what you are running is not a open public forum but a private members club.
If it was a true public forum all decisions and notifications would be in the public domain not by text or Facebook etc which not everyone is privvy to.
I won't be part of a forum that does not treat all members as equals. If the number was limited why was it never mentioned anywhere in the post until it was "allegedly full" so only the chosen few were aware of it.
And finally could you tell me,of all the people who appended their names for last year, how many actually took part?

As I said earlier buddy, I'm not getting into a tit for tat argument: :chat
Everything you needed to know was in the post and understood by yourself by acknowledging you'd like to be on the reserve list.. Ie understanding it was full !
A slight misunderstanding on numbers may have become apparent, hence your now creating an issue where there wasn't one previously.
Had you have been more involved in the forum you would have been aware of the numbers from previous outings.

Like you say, it's a free country, your free to roam..
If you remain on the forum that would be great, if you choose to leave, well that's your prerogative also. The guys on here all get along great. North, south, east or west we're a friendly interactive bunch, if you feel you no longer wish to be a part of that... Well that's your decision. :(

Boring reading for members but just to put the record straight

bmb779 and Martin,

Thank you both for your comments and apologies for my slow response however I’ve had to research back to give times and sequences for answers. This is how it unfolded.

The self imposed limit was discussed within the group in the car park during packing up to come home in 2015. It was agreed the location could not cope with more than 10 boats as 7 that day was ‘busy’.

5th Jan 2016, I contacted Martin and Gurnard to confirm our decision around last year’s campfire to repeat our visit to Scotland and would the dates suit them and should it again be offered out to other members on here, they agreed to both. (3 confirmed participants)
During the January Poole outing 16th Jan 2016 the Scottish 2015 Adventure came up in conversation in the pub between NeilH, AndyB, PeterM, Chris Moody and a few others, was there to be a repeat in 2016? I said things were in planning and would be announced soon. AndyB and NeilH said they were 'in' with Neil adding, September might be a problem with a job change but I’ll book it and let you know.
17th Jan 2016, Kaman raises question about Scottish trip in the ‘Thoughts for 2016 Events’ thread.
31st Jan 2016, Adventure Thread started by me.
31st Jan, Martin, Kaman, AndyB, PaulB confirmed. NeilH still interested. ( 6 confirmed participants)
3rd Feb, MattD confirmed. (7 confirmed participants)
13th Feb, Stray confirmed via PM regarding a question that may affect the trip, it didn’t. (8 confirmed participants)
14th Feb, Warsash to Folly thread Neil says has job interview 18th Feb, mental note to myself of reserved place on outcome.
20th Feb, Roger Black confirmed via PM regarding a question that may affect the trip, it didn’t. (9 confirmed participants)
22nd Feb, RIB8580 expresses an interest.
24th Feb, Invite closed as I do a boat count and realise 10 boat limit has been already reached if Neil secures job.
27th Feb, Neil finds out job change allows attendance, I confirm place previously reserved. (10 confirmed participants)
21st March, bmb779 aware places are full, requests going on reserve list.
23rd March, Gurnard being unaware of previous announcement and the number of boats going says see you there.
26th March, bmb779 takes Gurnard’s comment as acceptance.
28th March, I reiterate my post of 24th with detailed explanation.
The rest as they say is history.

There are the facts, times and members involved and you can search the threads and read for yourself bmb779.

In hind-sight maybe I should have asked and checked that those confirmed had listed their name on the thread or entered them myself…..lesson learnt.

So the first places were booked in a pub, that's hardly everyone getting an equal chance,as I have said earlier this is not a open forum it's a elitist private members club, the only people who know what's going on are all in a pub down south, even the Gurnard was in the dark. I'm glad I found this out now rather than later.

Sorry to hear and see that you are put out about the situation on this trip, however if you was a frequent visitor to the forum , you would have seen that this trip was announced in January, once the organisers had sorted the date, unfortunately you didn't see it until late March, which by this time other forum members had filled the places and other members whom had expressed an interest had been told the limit had been reached, the only thing the organisers didn't do correctly was announce a limit of numbers on the post, lesson learned for the future

Also this isn't a elitist members club, everybody is welcome to the forum and it's run by everybody by the posts we input on here, I didn't know any of these guys on here apart from one person when I joined, but I've made some good friends from it. It's a great forum and I've learned lots from it, so please stick around keep popping in and you will see what a great place it is, plus you will get the heads up sooner on more gatherings. And no before you ask I'm not one of the organisers or owners / moderators of this forum I'm just a member, I just don't like to see unhappy members :hugs

Hi guys..I have only just caught up on this thread..I have been that busy with other things. :Boxsmile

Sorry for the confusion Bmb..I was not aware of numbers going..as I don’t read everything here..

However I completely agree and will fiercely protect the Scottish Laws regarding wild camping.. and I don’t care who objects to that law... I will not be involved with large groups. I wild camp all the time and have no time what so ever for folks that don’t follow the access code..its a privilege..not a born right...and I don’t want Scotland’s landowners to have an excuse to refuse that privilege to me.

This is perfectly clear..both on this forum and on the other forum. BMB Being Scottish does not mean you can disregard the Access Code

I will recommend that even ten folks are too much to one location..as its no longer a small group..and perhaps suggest splitting the camping into two groups and two locations. Im offering my advice voluntary..Im not in any club..and if no one likes the way I do things..its not a problem to me..I can adventure happily away from a crowd.. although Im a sociable git at times too.

Please see here for Scottish access laws on wild camping

Quote
“Access rights extend to wild camping. This type of camping is lightweight, done in small numbers and only for two or three nights in any one place.”
http://www.outdooraccess-scotland.com/P ... ic/camping

I cant see Frib and Sibs being able to influence the Caravan Site where we are based for launching ..only the owner of that site can..and if he has drawn a line.. there is little any of us can do either. For you to suggest otherwise is being a bit unfair on the guys who try their best to get this event going. Yes..in reality ..that is all this is ..an event

So hey.. you can perhaps consider arranging one for others and post it in the events section. I will attend any that I can manage. ..and if you want local knowledge..Im happy to give that too. That is what created the Scottish Sib outing..its simply another event ..Paul and Martin created.. I was asked to give advice to the area..as I know it well..and that is all any of us do ..so please don’t think anyone is going behind your back. :scratch :thud

Sorry folks but we've now reached our limit due to 'wild camping' restrictions of small groups.
