Baby It's Cold Outside!

Post by harrison » 08 Dec 2020, 11:42

Admittedly all rather tentative at the moment, and subject to local Covid Tiers at the time plus a suitable weather window, we’re keen on a run out early in the New Year....anyone else looking to go out?

Considering launching from either Warsash or Baiter and aiming initially at Sat 2nd or Sunday 3rd Jan 21. All very weather dependant so dates need to be fluid, could end up any weekend in Jan, or even not at all.

Taking our tiny 3.4m ‘ribbet’ so flat seas a must. Sibs/ribs all welcome for a, no one gets left behind, ‘Frosty Fun 21’ leisurely run.

Yep, I'm in. Fairly flexible on dates, happy with either Baiter or Warsash. Or even Christchurch.

I hope you guys manage to get out. I won't be able to make it this time as the boat needs to be dried out and packed down by the 2nd before heading back up north to lincoln.

This aside, as nice as christchurch is for boating I might suggest one of the other two launches at the moment. The channel is still marked out through the harbour but not past the run(entrance) or past the sandbar as far as I am aware as the winds and tides move the channel around through winter. Just something to consider.

Enjoy it out there

P.S would love to come out with you guys from Christchurch around Easter time or over summer though. I don't drive so christchurch is the only real option for launch for me. Cheers

Looking at the latest restrictions I doubt this will now be going ahead.

Keep safe and have a good Christmas all

Aye! Reckon this is a non starter. We’re currently in Tier 3 and more than likely Tier 4 at the next review.

We are in Tier 4 in Southampton from tomorrow. Rumour has it that we won’t get out of tier 4 until we get vaccinated.
Not a complete idiot - some parts are missing.

Thats a cheerful thought, its looking like the whole of the UK will need to be in tier 4 by mid January going on how fast this new strain is moving, so I cant see the Gov requiring UK wide vaccinations before releasing us from tier 4 lockdown, that will be a very very long wait.
Merry Xmas all :)
