:( Apologies Lads, put my back out this morning, a legacy of 30+ years in the building trade, usually takes 3-4 days to right itself, so I've had to cancel the trip this week. Have a great time and I hope we'll meet up again in the near future. :cheers

That's a shame Cliff. Hope it eases off soon. We're here and all set up. Get the boat registered and fishing permits in the morning. Probably not ideal for your RIB here. just found out that it's a blanket 10mph speed limit except for the water ski area - an d you have to travel anti clockwise there! Good job were here mainly for the fishing, mostly trolling speeds with lures for us anyway. will be tying off to buoy by the park towards the end of the day and dropping a couple of dead baits in for the Pike. The trolling will be mostly for the Perch.

:thumbsup Thanks Mike, I had a chat with Mungo from the site when I rang to cancel, seems like a very nice bloke. Upshot is, I've re-booked for same time next week, and going to leave the caravan on the site over the half term hols for my son and his family to use. The 10mph limit will be fine for the wife, I have to break her in gently ;-) I reckon it will be a good place to also break in the new engine, though I'll definitely be doing a bit of the anti clockwise thing towing my invisible water skier. :waterski Good luck with the fishing :fishing , hope the Scottish weather god treats you kindly. :cheers

Weather Gods smiled on us. Fishing was just so-so. The level dropped at least six inches while we were there, making the approach to the beach treacherous. A lot of the loch is very shallow, less than a metre, hence the speed limit. Mike smacked his prop on a stone and sort of corrugated the blades. He was underpropped anyway but still ..... The loch is actually just a flooded river and Mike has pics from the sonar of underwater trees. I'm guessing they will be on there sooner or later. There are deep bits but you have to constantly aware of the shelf as the drop off is very sudden. It is around 11 miles in length but only a very short water ski area for WOT. Pretty enough but I wouldn't hurry back.

:LMT Thanks for the update, guess the level will drop further, not much rain forecast, probably best for me to row in and out, or keep the wheels down, don't fancy busting anything on its first outing this week, any further info greatly appreciated :cheers

I just found this site that gives water depths in feet, Loch Ken and other lochs and lakes in the UK as well as worldwide are on there. I'm sure a lot of people know about it, here it is if not. It's free to join up, and see the social maps: https://www.genesismaps.com/Dashboard/SocialMap
