We launched the Honwave from Itchenor today and it was a very easy painless procedure. The Harbourmasters office was very helpful. I paid the £5 launching fee and as I could leave the trailer on the beach, I only paid a further £5 to park the car. It's a nice shallow slipway and stoney beach so all in all very easy.
The Mercury 20 EFI finally found it's way into the water (I bought it at last years boat show) and managed to clock a couple of hours running.
We pulled up on the Chichester side of West Wittering on a beautiful sandy beach before cruising down to Bosham.

Awesome, thats kinda exactly what we plan to do - thanks for the update :thumbsup

Did it look reasonably secure for the trailer on the beach?

Cheers

Paul.

I put the wheel clamp on mine. There were plenty there without locks on.
Now I need to find £1 million to buy a house I saw for sale in Itchenor!!

Just to update this we spent a day down in Chichester harbour a couple of weeks ago launching from Itchenor. The launch facility is excellent, really big hard beach that can fit probably 6 trailers launching at once.

Harbour masters office is on site and were really friendly, for up to 4m boat it is £4 launch fee and £4 harbour fee which is cheap as. If you go more often then a yearly harbour I think is only like £25.

They have a hose pipe on site and a engine flush bucket as well.

OK to leave trailers on the top end of the hard, I put a hitch lock on mine as it is shiny and new but many didn't.

The only challenge was getting early enough to get a space in the car park - it was the mad weekend a few weeks back when it was amazingly hot and EVERYONE was on the beach. Harbour master said car park was full by 10 on the Saturday so we got down about 9 on the Sunday and there was plenty of space.Don't suppose this would be an issue on a normal day. Car park was £5 for the day (double if you park your trailer there as well), so we had a day on the water for about £25 including fuel, parking, launch etc. Can't say fairer than that.

We went down to East Head and set up on the beach alongside all sorts of boats from Rib's to Yachts to some quite tasty mobo's. Took a run out of the harbour and around to Bracklesham bay as well.

Loads to explore - the only thing to note is the 8 knot speed restriction in the harbour which is a pain for us as we can either do 5kn or 11kn+ but not in between!

Will definitely be going back and would recommend as a great all tide launch spot for Sibbers.

Cheers

MM
