I like a bit of metal detecting myself, and I would like to combine a day of boating with beach-combing and metal detecting. The trouble is that since the interesting times of Vikings, Jacobites and 19th Century shipwrecks there have been a couple of nasty world wars and a lot of practising with unpleasant munitions which tend to wash up on beaches.

Metal detecting is a great hobby. I havent made a lot of money from it but theres always this beautiful feeling of finding something old and buried. Good luck on anyone who's metal detecting out there!

I went this morning on the beach with my Nox 800 for a couple of hours, fishing weights, ww2 bullets, odd lumps of lead and alloy, a very old looking hand made 4 inch copper nail and a disc of yellow shiny metal that looked and felt like gold to go with the foil barbecues and parts of drink cans. Its a dirty job but someone has to do it ;)
