Caravan, Tent or Motorhome ?

Thought I would add my tanners worth to keep the thread alive,, we started off camping with an Aldi tent, a wee trip to Inverbervie and a few nights tenting with the tv, some fishing gear, and our cockatiel spikey! Yes, a pet bird! We have took her with us on several jaunts, partly because we didn't want to leave her at home alone, and also she loved sitting out in the fresh air. Shortly after that we bought a conversion, a 2.3 swb transit, an ex police van that the previous owner bought to take his kids out with, turned out they never liked it so it went up for sale. He sent it to a company in wales to have it converted at a cost of £3000. Rock and roll bed (leather) sink, cooker, carpeted all round, ceiling spotlights, carbon fronted cupboard doors, tv with external hard drive with all the latest films.tinted windows, blinds, and the best bit, it was fitted to lpg when made specifically for the police. 54 pence a litre for lpg auto gas, it was brilliant! Sadly it lacked head space, and had to go as it was fine for a night or 2 but not practical for any more than that.next came a coachman pastiche 2 berth which we used but not enough, and we thought it a waste to have such a good thing sitting, so sold that! And bought a wee elldis wisp 2 berth, about 30 years old. Cost next to nothing, and suits us perfectly. We call it the bedroom on wheels! When the beds down, it's roomy, we have all the same as any other caravan, toilet, fridge, cooker etc, and when the bed is down it's huge! Like a king size. We love it, and we try to get out as often as we can. Now I've got a wee sib, I'm looking forward to taking that with us too. We go to the basic but cracking wee site at Thornton loch quite often, right on the beach, I fish along at the power station(torness) and from the beach! The wee sib will add another dimension to the wee trips out with the van. Cheers,,stewart..
