F-RIB 330 as safety boat when school kids float their skiffs

Post by F-Rib South East » 02 Aug 2017, 09:04

A week last Sunday, the two 15' 6" rowing skiffs, that were built by 8 school children in my workshop, were launched in Faversham Creek. I used a F-RIB 330 as the safety boat. The F-RIB was powered by an electric outboard, a Torqeedo 1003 (roughly equivalent to 3hp petrol). Very manoeuvrable and safe in forward and reverse, well suited to close quarters rescuing (they needed it often!). The kids were aged 11-14 and had no previous experience of woodworking or being on the water. They built their boats in just 5 short days. In front of a large crowd they had a 'crash' course in rowing followed by a short race. Great fun had by all, as you can see from the photos...

Fantastic looks like the kids did a great job building the boats. And looks like they had fun on the water too

Excellent and thanks for sharing :thumbsup
Nothing better than seeing kids enjoying boating 8-) hopefully it'll be the birth of a life-long hobby/passion, especially as they've built their own watercraft :respect
Great photos
:cheers
