advice please , ive knocked a lump out of my skeg , dont ask , and bent it a little . ive been told to get a blow torch on it , heat it well hot , and i will be able to straighten it out . and then fit a skeg guard , the motor runs fine , no discernable adverse effects . the question is can i heat it up without removing any of the engine parts or lower leg covers. any opinions welcomed .T I A

My suggestion.... assuming you hit something?

You check your insurance and get an estimate from your friendly merc dealer ... and claim for a new one.

A bit of paperwork and admin and 10 minutes and 5 bolts and literally like new.

hi again @PeterM , i checked my policy and ive opted for a higher excess and lower policy price , that said , excess is £300 but DOUBLE for any thing under water so i think a repair is likely, what are your thoughts please

I strongly recommend that you remove all heat-sensitive parts, including motor parts and leg covers, before proceeding. The heat from the flashlight could damage other components if applied too close to them.
