I have finally found a trailer and are busy doing it up.
Just a quick question any suggestions on where to find bunk carpet?
I have seen most rolls advertised in the states. I presume it would have to be some marine carpet.
Would astro turf(short) be any good?
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Normal carpet will do.
And it's free if you ask at your local carpet shop if you can bin dive

It's not like it's going to be spending more than a few minutes in the water at any one time...

Thanks Andy, i did mention to the other half the hallway runner might need replacing

Does anyone know if covering the existing carpet bunks with heavy duty tarpaulin would be a problem?
I have plenty of tarpaulin available, if giving a wipe with washing up liquid before loading i really can't see why not

Personally I prefer a nice deep shag.
Something with a deep textured surface will help you slide the boat off.
A smooth surface like a tarp will have a high friction level, making it harder to slide the boat.
Unless you're planning on using some sort of lube

As Andy has stated a carpet is much better, the tarp could cause it to be a bit sticky when launching or retrieving you can buy proper waterproof stuff for boats but it’s expensive,

I covered my bunks with pipe insulation, I didn't want carpet because I have seen staining on some other boats from the carpet dye leaching. However, as stated above the foam wasn't very slippy and tended to grab, so yesterday at the carboot I saw some material offcuts for sale, and paid a tenner for more than enough to do the job of covering the foam .... don't laugh, it's self draining spreads the load and waterproof, and it worked well on a dry pull. it doesn't even need mowing.
