Another little job finished today, my outboard stand. Now I can push it about with ease and wash it when required, just need to find a bucket to fit under!
I'll have to come up with something for wheeling the SIB about in it's bag, as I now have to carry/drag it out of the way every time I go in the shed. No wonder
folk put them on trailers

Best buckets to use are pliable/flexible ones IMO.
Sometimes called Gorilla Tub or Soft Bucket ..... they come in many sizes to suit your needs, sold by Wickes, B&Q, Screwfix, Toolstation and just about anywhere ...... get the right size and it'll serve two purposes like an anchor tub, storing your fishing catch etc

I have three Gorilla tubs in the shed full of off cuts Paul, forever tripping up on the sodding things Funnily enough though, I did notice some outside the hardware shop yesterday when I picked up the "R Pins", and plan to get one for the anchor

Personally.. for the smaller engine stands .. I prefer spending that extra penny and getting a bucket with a lid

Then you can use it to flush out your engine .. you can crap in it when caught short ..and as long as you remember to flush it out .. you can keep your catch in it too
(If you forget to flush the crap..then flush your outboard..it can make a passable coffee expresso mix..but that's perhaps extreme bucket usage ?)

Liking your outboard stand Pete. I'm going to have a shot at building one myself and your photos are great for inspiration!

There are some great YouTube vids of Russians with homemade metal portable trolleys. But I've not used an arc welder since school, so might be safer with a wooden garage stand to start off with!

Those buckets are generically know as 'tubtrugs' and are pretty cheap on Amazon...

That's a very handy bucket Donny, what a cracking idea. You can't go wrong with all them multiple uses and a little luxury on all these wild camping expeditions

Thanks Steve I had it made in a few hours and that included planing all the timber square to start with. I've had the castors for a while, a bit over the top for this job as they're rated 150 kilo each and I would have preferred two braked ones, but at least I didn't have to buy anything to make it...I'd love to learn how to weld, there's so many things I could tinker with...Maybe one day!

I use a sack trolley to move the folded sib around in its bag

Now I find a trailer makes the FRIB handling easy

My outboards stand
Made big enough to carry the three outboards I had (now just two) and enough room to pop my cut down 45gallon drum in place for flushing.

I like the idea of a sack trolley Chris and Martin, like the idea of a trailer too.
