Write your text as you normally would.

When you wish to insert a picture scroll down to UPLOAD ATTACHMENT button located on the left below the text box.

Click the UPLOAD ATTACHMENT button and this now reveals a BROWSE button.

Click the BROWSE button and this reveals the files on your computer.

Locate your desired picture and click OPEN.

The selected pictures title will appear between the BROWSE button and ADD THE FILE button.

Click the ADD FILE button to load it to the forum.

Once the picture has up-loaded to the forum make sure your cursor is at the end of your text where you wish to insert your picture.

Click the PLACE IN LINE button and it will be added to your text..

Click the PREVIEW button to make sure that your picture is positioned where you want it and click SUBMIT once you're done :Hats

I use 'photo bucket' for all my photo uploads and whilst it can be annoying after an upgrade, it is a very good system and universally accepted. For me the albums and library system is great for keeping subjects in a filed method although I have just scrapped my albums and starting again. On a number of forums, photo bucket is the only way of posting photo's.

Although the third party photo sites are great, they do run off the pages a little in our forum.
You'll find they tend to chop a small portion off the side of the image on mobile devices, shouldn't be q problem with desktop users though :cheers

We appear to be having a few questions regarding images on the forum.
Third party software is entirely your option, but loading to the forum directly from your local machine will allow a small image to be viewed on the relevant page as a preview to all users. If you click the image it will expand to a full view, you can then get back to the original page by clicking the back button.
Alternatively right click the image and select [Open In A New Window] - this will open a full view image and then allow you just to shut that image down rather than having to click the back button. <--
If you require any more info, please just yell :help

thank you :Hats

Guys I have 3 questions.
1. How come every pic I post ends up sideways?
2. I can not post an avatar pic? It always says file size is wrong? Martin I even copied yours to see if i could post it and it would not.
3. Did Neil Armstrong really walk on the moon or is it a Hoax? That dam flag with the wind ripples is real head scratcher. :D

Great questions, thanks!
I'll do my best to answer these .. but they'll be in reverse as the "why do my images display sideways" question is a long drawn out explanation but one i have been trying to fix for quite some time..

In answer...
3) Yes, They did land on the moon, it's very real, the images you see are taken on the moon or of the moon - actually attached to a stick.. :thud
moon on a stick.jpg
The moon on a stick
2) Avatar settings were completely open when we first opened the forum, unfortunately some people decided they wanted a profile image the size of the whole page so we had to limit the image size to be fluid with the page. If you have a specific picture you wish to add but can't get it to display, send me the unedited image and i'll pop it on for you, Or - If you're sure the image is the correct dimensions i can open the settings again at an agreed time (via pm) and you can upload it then. This latter option fixed it for 9-R who now has his requested profile pic / Avatar :D
Again, the whole image subject is under the telescope at the moment to try and resolve all aspects of it so you can post whatever you wish without problem. :?

3) This may get continued later as i'm propping my eyes open right now :geek:
Image orientation is a huge problem through many sites unless they are specific photo storage sites, they tend to offer the correct software for the job.
On a whole, The orientation of the device the image was taken on, the type of device it was taken on, the browser it was uploaded on, the device it was uploaded on and the device / browser the image is then viewed on all play part in this conundrum.
Early devices will not have attached the (EXIF) Exchangeable image file format data attached, Thus no instructions are passed to a browser instructing how to deal with the proposed image orientation.
Digital devices may well attach the EXIF, but the uploading / reading browser may not handle the image correctly.
So as an example..
You upload an image directly from your shamsung phone to a pc, you then post the said image on here from your pc using your firefox browser.
You then reply to your own post with exactly the same image, but uploaded to the forum through say your safari browser...
The images are not forced to remain in the orientation you expected, as different browsers will handle, or not handle the images correctly.
You may then decide, whilst in that self same safari browser to view the forum on the "Mobile Platform" that we have installed, low and behold the image is deplayed correctly and in all its glory.

The only thing we can suggest at the moment is using image sites such as Donny, AndyB and such use, or load the image up to the forum, click the preview button and ensure the image is correct in both thumbnail and full view - before you submit.

Mobile phone companies spend a fortune developing the camera and software, then they let the side down by not supporting the orientation. I've found if i start the camera mode, then flip the phone 90degrees and take the picture the image will come out as the opposite of my intentended orientation.
However, if i was to flip the phone to landscape first and then start the camera app the image will display in full view at the chosen landscape orientation .

To Be Continued...... :rip

Reading back what I wrote, I see "I'm falling asleep at the keyboard" errors lol.. I'll fix those later :shame

Moving on.
You'll no doubt notice from website to website you'll come across the "best viewed in chrome/safari/internet explorer" quotes, part of the advice is due to the issue we are talking about here. All being down to how individual browsers display the content on the broad spectrum of devices available today.
Within the website you then have to set the viewport, i.e. The end page display is required to cover devices from mobile phones to 50+"" monitors , yup.. another ball ache :thud
Again, some browsers will take the given data and act upon it, some appear to choose to ignore it and display the page as they deem fit.
Something like this ...
<meta name=viewport content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">
tells the browser to scale the site/page to the required dimensions for the device.
Unfortunately there doesn't appear to be a generic instruction for image display so we have to limit the image dimensions to fit within category's or pages.

Think of a box full of 24 beers, all the beers sit & travel great, add a bottle to the box and yes you can cram it in, but the box distorts, equaling page margins no longer fitting within the displaying screen.
Take a beer out, and everything falls over and ends up a mix and mash, unless of course the box has individual inserts to hold each item. That's kinda how the forum works, individual sections with specific size requirements.

Back to work now lol..
To be continued :thud
