Do you think the forum is quiet ?

Post by Admin » 21 Sep 2016, 17:11

I think many of you are maybe using the wrong buttons on the forum for the best user experience ?
There are two main pages to the forum, Board PORTAL & Board INDEX.

The portal page will be mainly for adverts etc, the board index is where you need to be going as a start/home page.
You then have 4 options of navigation :-
unread posts / unanswered posts /active topics / your posts.

At the stage we are at (small membership figures) I would highly recommend everyone uses "Active Topics" as their first call.
Using any of the other links will not give you the full forum benefit.

At the time of me writing this, viewing "New Posts" there was 6 new posts.
If you click "Active Topics" you'll see the full forum activity. There is at this time approx 35 active topics.

The software will get better as more members join and posts accumulate, it's designed to handle huge amounts of data.

If you were unaware of this, and it's been of some help, can you either leave a comment below or click a thumbs up please.

The only way we can determine whats of use, is if we get the feedback. :bust IT

Many thanks,
The Team :Hats

Thanks for the acknowledgement Roger.
Were you unaware of the active topics button?
Did you always use "view new posts" ?

Why not make the home or landing page the active topics one? Just an idea.

I use both and don't think it matters, at least in my case. I typically look throughout regardless. Yes, overall, it feels very quiet. Seems new members are gained but they stay only for a couple of posts and then leave. There are not an abundant number of SIB forums so it makes me wonder why.
Wrote a note said, 'back in a minute'. Bought a boat and I sailed off in it.

I suspect the forum down time had an effect on activity. Once people get out of the regular habit of doing something (visiting this forum) it's hard to get back into the habit again.

But it's not all about quantity. A few good quality answers to questions is a lot better than shed loads of dumb answers which you get on a lot of other forums like ybw.com (that one is full of a lot of angry self opinionated keyboard warriors and is best avoided)

Them and iboats.com. Members don't stay there very long.

Looking at the logs of who comes on and when, many registered members sign in and have a read, but only a small percentage post.
As 9-R says, there's a very limited amount of sibbing forums and as far as I'm aware we're the only dedicated FRIB forum
In time, hopefully it'll get busier, but I think we can all agree that the quality of members on here is superb.

The downtime will have affected us, hopefully that has been overcome once and for all :whistle

We are still in early stages, the forum is only 18months old, now we have a good solid base we can push it a little and hope Google finds all our data to show on searches.

We're here for the long run, so if anyone can help steering quality boaters our way it would be greatly appreciated.

Tapatalk increased membership slightly and we pick an odd sibber up from the RHIBS group, I think generally its waiting for Google to recognise just how great this place is
