Looking for a reasonable price action cam, don't know much about these so can't decide if GoPro is the way to go or Sony camera, the most important thing is ease of use with the gadgets I already have iPad iPhones and Sony PlayStations, I don't do windows at all.

It's no problem Mick, but Try and use the search function Mick, Many topics have been covered already...
A search would have found this thread for you http://f-ribsandsibs.com/viewtopic.php? ... n+cam#p172
If you were to read my earlier posts on action cams, it would seem i was very anti go pro. I bought one of the highly acclaimed SJ Cams, not the imitation, but the genuine article.
I returned it after a short while due to failure.
I bought another, and the same again... unfortunately out of warranty.
The first one, a button jammed on first use, stopping me from recording.
The 2nd one shut itself down on dash cam mode and never re-booted. I've since got it going but not what i would call a good camera. It's now my chuick it in the water cam, if i loose it... oh well
I did buy a Gopro Hero 3+ silver on special last xmas.. Wow !!!
£150 with free external battery. The quality is superb and battery life fairly impressive. It doesnt have the screen to view on it, but i can buy one separately.
It does have the WiFi mode, that when coupled to my iPhone, gives me live viewing and/or playback.
The good thing is the GoPro fittings are the same as the SJ Cam, So all the extra's i have work with both..

Re: GoPro action cam
A bit of a pointer to anyone buying..
I have one with a rear screen, and one without.
To be honest, in my opinion, the rear screen is a sales gimmick and I wouldn't bother. Money better spent on a better quality camera rather than a screen camera.
If your doing selfies, you can't see the screen.
If you've got it on a head mount:chest mount, you can't see the screen.
If its fixed to the bow/sides/stern of the boat, you can't see the screen... Following ???
I always end up activating the wifi on both Camera's and setting them up via the phone app, perfect subject shooting then.
The phone apps generally allow playback too and at far better quality the the crappy screen on the cams.
Just my 2p on it
