Will this boat suffice?

Post by cdlwingnut » 26 Aug 2021, 17:02

I just picked up this to do a little fishing on a Minnesota lake.
pretty much just me and perhaps one small child to go fishing
will this hold up for a season or 2
I really will only be able to use it one week a year and perhaps 1 or 2 other outings a summer back

That would do for the type of use you describe - but - I would recommend getting one with an inflatable floor/hull, as that would have a keel, giving better on water control and steering. The slatted floor models are intended to be used as a tender, to get you from the dock to a bigger boat moored in the harbour.
I'm also sure that once you have a boat, the bug will bite and it will get used more than you think now - been there!!
Why am I here - I should be in my boat fishing!!

That outboard will be fine in sheltered still waters with no real flow, but will struggle in tidal flow and wind.

Thanks Warder, and the model I got does have an air floor, but not a keel

though I am thinking about doing what Saturn boats does with the budget models and put a pool noodle under the floor. don't want to stress the seams though
