I'm on holiday next week, but when back at work the week after I'll put one of the chartplotters on sonar display and see at what speed it stops working. I never run the work ribs on sonar, they are usually just showing speed / heading / depth / lat & long on the "numbers" screen. What's the effect on the sonar above 5 kts so I know what to look out for?
It's just a scrambled mess and you cant see anything.....
F-RibsAndSibs.Com.... :whistle

I'll do some tests and find out at what speed the sonar turns into a scrambled mess on a rib, and report back.

If you are losing bottom when on the plane, then the transducer needs re-positioning.
The transducer needs "clean" water to work properly, this video explains what's happening.
