F-RIB 360 for sale

Post by Phil » 16 Jun 2019, 21:43

After almost 2 years, 20-30 launches and many great memories, I’m selling my F-RIB 360. I’ve enjoyed my time on the water so much, I’ve decided to enter the market for a bigger boat in 17-20 foot range.

The F-RIB is such a capable bit of kit and so convenient for transporting in the back of a car, I would keep it if I could justify owning two boats. However, I’m looking at expensive running and maintenance costs with a bigger vessel and roughly 5+ times the purchase cost, and that’s for something that’s 10 years old!

Here’s the F-RIB package I’m selling:

F-RIB 360 (newer model with factory fitted rubber keel guard)
F-RIB seats and paddles
F-RIB comfort pack seat bag and 2x seat cushions
Factory fitted F-RIB launch wheels
Bravo BTP12 12v pump and rechargeable motorcycle battery (+ back-up foot pump)
15hp Johnson GT10 37kg 2-stroke, with a couple of kill chords
Hulk 12l and Plastimo 30l fuel tanks, with fuel lines and priming bulbs
Outboard tiller extension
Fulton outboard transom lock

£3,000 (located near Guildford, Surrey)

I’m posting the boat here for if any forum members are interested first, however it’ll be going up on eBay before not too long. Feel free to ask or DM me any questions. Here’s a load more detail about the boat which should cover most bases, along with close-up pictures showing the condition of the boat as clearly as poss…

I got the F-RIB new in June 2017, so it’s got another year left on the F-RIB 36 month warranty. I’ve mollycoddled the keel, carefully setting the boat up on rubber launch mats, or soft grass and never driving it into the beach. A bit overprotective perhaps as it has the factory keel guard, but the upshot is that the keel is in great condition and glass smooth bar some light surface marks and a couple of the usual small chips at the joins (see pictures).

The tubes are in good condition, with some expected light scuffing (see pictures). When not used, the boat has been kept indoors out of sunlight and I’ve wiped down and dried it after being on the water. I got one tube professionally patched no expense spared through my boat insurance last year after a submerged sharp barnacle put a small hole in the back of it in the shallows. On F-RIB HQ’s recommendation, RIB Shop in Southampton did the work, adding an identical cosmetic patch to the opposite tube using colour-matched official F-RIB 1100 GSM Mirasol PVC giving the repair a factory finish (see pictures).

The repair came with a one year warrant and, in the words of Kieron at RIB Shop, will last the lifetime of the boat. I’ve kept the boat pumped up for several days at a time and it’s never lost pressure or needed topping up. Also, F-RIB HQ have just done some warranty work on the rear bulkhead, upgrading this to the latest solid bulkhead design eliminating the usual slight water ingress.

I bought the 15hp 1992 Johnson GT10 2-stroke from Alan at SE F-RIBS with the boat. Its paint is cosmetically scruffy, but it’s mechanically sound. Alan had the outboard professionally inspected and serviced before selling it to me along with removing the carb restrictor plate. This outboard had been run at 10hp for all but the last two years of its life, so has had an easy ride!

Since then, I’ve done some work on the outboard, refreshing the throttle twist grip and assembly, the pull start handle and throttle interlock spring with official Johnson OEM parts. At the backend of last year, I stripped, cleaned and rebuilt the carb, although there was no gumming. And the outboard has always been flushed with fresh water after use.

I thought about getting a newer 4 stroke outboard, but nothing offers the same power to weight ratio or is as small, light, simple or transportable as the 37kg Johnson. It gets the F-RIB 360 to 20 knots with 2 adults and can be carried and stored any way up without worrying about sump oil fouling the plugs!

Hi @Martin, yes, this thread last night is the only place I’ve listed the boat so far, so it’s still for sale :).

@Devondafty feel free to send me a direct message if you’d like further info.

Cheers,

Phil

n.b. I can no longer edit my original post, but I should add that I'll also be including an outboard carry bag in the sale. This makes lifting and carrying the outboard easier and keeps your car from getting grubby!

My F-RIB has now been sold. Thank you to everyone who provided so much help and guidance through my 2 years of ownership which really helped me get the most out of these great bits of kit.

I had some fantastic times on the water and made some unforgettable family memories with the boat. I’m a little sad to see it go!

However, I’m really pleased to say the new owner is a great guy and fellow enthusiast who’ll get lots of use out of the F-RIB. We discussed this forum, so he may well pop up on here soon.

I’m already feeling twitchy without a means to get in the water. There may be a post from me in the dark side forum before not too long!
