Should this just fit on without any packing etc?
Thanks

If your referring to a KB350, then yes.
We run a 9.8 Tohatsu (2-stroke) and worked great straight out the box with no packers. We’ve also tried three other motors from 3.5 to 20 hp and all worked fine without any packers.
I think the tunnel hull sibs seem to benefit from running motors slightly deep to help alleviate the dreaded ventilation issues common with cats. In fact I think Elling even lowered the transom slightly as current models boast a modest central well for motor whilst early boats (visible in promo shots/vids) sported a straight top transom.

Yes it was the KB350
Have you ever used a 6HP on it - thinking weight of moving the outboard about?

Not used a 6 on it but briefly ran an Orca 8hp which is essentially a bored out Yamaha 6 and the same 27kg weight. One up, with stock 8” pitch prop and bouncing off the limiter would give a solid 14 knots. I’d wager a 6hp would give very similar performance.
Lightest 6 is still the Suzuki at 24 kilos, closely followed by the latest Tohatsu at 25kg, with the rest at circa 27kg. There are also a couple of single pot Selva’s….an 8hp Black Bass at 27kg and the 9.9 Piranha at 30.5kg.
For best power to weight ratio though, need to go old school with a used Tohatsu 9.8 two stroke weighing in at a svelte 26kg.

Thanks
Thinking of designing a trolley that would hold the engine without using the transom clamp, that could allow the whole thing to be rotated to align with the boat transom while taking the entire weight of the engine

Brilliant - that type of thing, but adapted so that irt could go in on its side onto the back seats of my car the correct way up, so maybe a clip on side frame..
Thanks for that.
Was thinking of trying to get a post showing that and asking for others and then for a few suggestions on what could be built, as I am sure its a really ball ache for most people.
I think lifting a 26/27 kilo 6, 8 or 9.8 motor on/off transom and in/out of car by hand solo is not a problem even at my age.
Best to not over complicate things.

20 st ex rugby player, however hernia op a few years ago, cut top to bottom, so a trolley would help.
Just looking at the manual, it says drain oil and fuel if not upright....

Unfortunately in these litigation rife times we now live in most manufacturers will err on the side of caution and get a disclaimer in.
If you lay a four stroke on the correct side then absolutely no need to drain oil or even fuel for transportation.
