What side to put Transducer on the Transom

Post by Sibfisher » 12 Jun 2020, 11:08

Hi Fellow Ribers & Sibers :wavey
I am going to put my mounting bracket and arm onto the transom for the transducer and not sure what side to put it, the photos I have looked at as it on the right Is that the side the transducer should be put and why.

Reason for asking the transom wheel bracket I have bit more room to the left, if has to be fitted to the right I will do so.

Generally it is fitted to the right (starboard) side of the boat. This is because of the rotation of the propeller, meaning that the water on the right hand side is marginally less disturbed than the water on the left.

Thanks for clarifying this and the reason why Chris, will be putting on the right (starboard) of the outboard

Cool. I only said starboard so as to ensure we were both talking about the same side of the boat - as starboard does not change if you are looking from the front or the back.

Plus, the right hand side is on the opposite side to the tiller which gives easier access when raising, lowering or removing it from the boat. I route all the cables under the edges of the air floor on mine.
