Bravo Electric Inflator 12V GE BTP - Pump inflator versus Battery

Hi there,

I've recently bought this pump inflator: https://www.francobordo.com/bravo-elect ... 48851.html
Specs, as you can see, are:
● Dimensions: 29,5x10,5x16 cm
● Air flow: 160 - 4If50 l/min
● Voltage supply: 12V DC
● Current consumption: 13 A max
● Max. Pressure: 1 bar (14.5 psi)

I've connected the pump inflator to the battery of may car (via the lighter socket) and it run well: 5mn to inflate each tube and 6mn to inflate the bow! so around 15mn to inflate all boat, that's ok for me.

Later, and in order to not to have to be stuck to the car battery, I've bought this boster/jump start with lithium batteries:

Specs are as follows:

After that I connect the pump inflator to the booster (fully charged) and when I expected everything to work.....it didn't! :Confused

I've connected again the pump inflator to the car battery and it worked again (so the pump inflator is ok)
I've connected my cell phone to the booster and it got charged (so the booster is ok)

My guess: the pump inflator specs says 13 A max current consumption and the booster specs says that it is a 11.000 mAh capacity.
I this the problem?
If, for example, the booster is a 15.000mAh could the pump inflator work?

If you see this video you see that everything runs ok, but it's true that I don't know the Amperage of his booster....

So, please provide me some help on this issue and my apologies for my basic English...
MOTS

The capacity of the booster isn’t the problem - it’s a current delivery issue. The most likely issue is that the lighter adapter for the booster almost certainly can’t provide the current you need.
The booster claims to provide 200amps for starting but this will be via the croc clips. You need to find a way to connect the pump to the booster with the big battery clips to try it.

But I did that. If you see the video the guy does that too. But even making the connection via the croc clips the pump inflator doesn't work... :no

Hmm. It’s still most likely to be a problem with the booster although I confess I don’t know why it isn’t working. Can you confirm that you have 12v present on the croc clips?

Unfortunately, no. My multimeter has not been used for a long time and I found the internal batteries blown up.
Is there any other way to make that confirmation?

Do you have a car light bulb? Try touching the connectors to the terminals on the bulb.

I use a 12volt power pack (11amp gel battery) bought from Halfords and that runs my Bravo pumpo without any problems. I don't think those Lithium packs have the capacity to power the Bravo pump.

It really depends on the pack. Some of these Chinese / inexpensive packs massively misquote their abilities - the classic is adding the capacity of cells which are in parallel when they quote the capacity, so they say they have a 12,000mah battery when they are using 4 300ah batteries in parallel (giving 4x the voltage but only 300mah).

I run my bravo pump from a lithium pack, but I am using 8x 10ah cells in a 2x4 configuration, so I have 2x the capacity and 4x the voltage - giving me 20ah at 14v (lithium iron phosphate cells, rather than lithium ion or lithium polymer). I have also run the pump from a 3s LiPo battery pack which I use more model planes, also with no problem.

So lithium certainly has the potential to run the pump if the cells can deliver the power. The power pack you mention claims to be able to deliver enough current to start a car. Dumb question, but is there a button you have to press to switch it on?

Did that, no light.

Found the site of Green Cell on the net and send them an e-mail. Let's see if they reply...
