Free nav maps for iphone

Any advice on the best apps for working out distances between points on the coast. I wanted to work out how far Pentewan was to Polkerris and back the other week so that I could judge whether my fuel tank would get us there and back. Erred on the side of caution in the end and the chop was pretty bad on the day. I’ve since bought a bigger fuel tank 👍 Any pointers would be welcome. Thanks in advance.

Search Navionics in the App Store.

Even the free version will give distances.

Work on the ‘thirds rule’ for fuel. A third out, a third back, and a third in reserve. :thumbsup

I use the embark app.... and also Google earth has the ability to measure distance between dropped pins which is handy.

I did pentewan to polkerris just at the weekend :)

a basic free app i use on android (may be able to get in apple) is Sea Map. you can have either full nav charts or use google earth showing just buoyage but gives you a great excact postion to be able to spot land marks and so on...

its not mega advanced but it is very usefull.

Thanks - love Polkerris. It’s a private beach I think - Rashleigh Estate - assume you can just rock up, beach the boat, go for several beers at the Pub and then disappear. No harbour master or dues to pay? :cheers
